Whispering Smith - TMG Good prints, interesting guest stars and a good price for a season set.

Good to hear, Don. My set is on the way and I am looking forward to it.

You'll enjoy watching - I wonder why this NBC show never caught on -- it must have been scheduled against a powerhouse

I wonder why this NBC show never caught on -- it must have been scheduled against a powerhouse

According to Wiki:

Whispering Smith aired at 9 p.m. Mondays opposite the CBS sitcom The Danny Thomas Show and the second half of the ABC modern detective series Surfside 6

Heard of both, never watched either. Obviously more people watched both than WS.

I picked up the Dangerous Assignment TV series set. 39 episodes starring Brian Donlevy. I've watched the first 8 episodes and it plays very much like a poor man's Danger Man, only with a less charismatic lead and an approximate budget of $1.92 per episode. Still, they use narrration and stock footage to fill in the holes so you get a lot of plot in your 25 minutes. It has some interest, but nothing spectacular.

.... she and Paul Kelly don't seem as middle aged as Glenda and Barton did in the earlier efforts.
Glenda was, at most, 35 when she made her last Torchy flick. But, I agree!! Nothing more depressing than middle-aged folks. Glad I'm l-o-o-o-o-o-ng past that!!

Costco has some great in-store deals going on for the next week or so. I picked up the Clint Eastwood 35 films/35 years set. Cover price at Costco is $119.99 but there is an automatic manufacturer's $30 discount leaving the set a cool $89.99. Too good to pass up. Unfortunately, having made that choice I had to pass on their other deals which included all 8 3 Stooges sets @$16.99 each minus a manufacterer's $4 off. So you could get any or all of the sets at $12.99 each. They also had the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes (Granada) collection listed at $99.99 with a instant $20 deduction. There were others with nice discounts too numerous to mention (the Complete Sopranos, the Complete Shield, Inspector Morse sets, etc...). If you're a Costco member with some monet to spend I believe most of these deals are good through the end of next week.

I got the new Wolfman for $12 at Target. Pretty sure it was marked wrong, but they let me out with it.
It's about twice what it's worth, but I liked some of the atmosphere and it's head and shoulders above VAN HELSING.

Got some bad news about my Grandma-- she's not doing great and the nursing home she's in doesn't have a DVD player so I got her a little mini one she watches in her bed with earphones, she's up all night so I'm rushing to pick up all the shows she really likes; Perry Mason, Magnum PI, Mash, Dark Shadows, Columbo- Columbo I'm on board with but not so much the others. Watched Mash as a kid and liked it, now I can't get through it.

Of course when I visit she has me watch anything but Columbo with her, but it's the least I can do. I think they may have to do something with me if I have to sit through season two of Magnum PI.
