It really hurts! But its better than upgrading to Blu-ray and also having to buy a new television. |

The Region One copy of Fairly Legal did work on my cheap Region Two player. It must also be multi-region as it hasn't been hacked or coded. To end my buying DVDs, for about six months, I ended with the complete series one to six of Breaking Bad, however slightly soured due to its atrocious packaging and general abuse towards to what should have been an excellent product. |

The Town That Dreaded Sundown was a good flick, based on a true story. A remake is forthcoming. The Evictors...is a bonus movie on the set. So that's something. |

I saw Sundown when I was a kid, scared the hell out of me. |

Should still supply a decent scare, it does have some creepy moments. And from what I can find online, seems to stick closely to the facts of the real story, which adds some shivers, since no one was ever caught. |

I picked up Danny Phantom: the Complete Series. A 14-year old boy accidentally acquires "ghost" powers (e.g., flight, becoming invisible or intangible) while exploring a portal between the human and ghost worlds that was developed by his ghost-hunting parents. With the aid of his friends, he uses his abilities to fight evil spirits that slip through the portal. This Nickelodeon cartoon originally ran for three seasons, between 2004 - 2007. |

An added addition before my film buying goes dark for a little while - Game of Thrones: Season Three. Discovered its a Region One when I thought I was buying a Two. It works fine enough though!

One final edition (this time the last!) before my buying goes dark - Nashville, Season One! Seeing the trailer and tiny bits on television got my juices flowing for both Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere!! |

I picked up Hey Arnold! - The Complete Series. This animated program ran for five seasons on Nickelodeon beginning in 1996. The title character is a good-hearted, nine-year-old boy with a head shaped like a football. He lives in the city with his grandparents, who run a boarding house. The stories involve his friends from school, the boarding house tenants, and various denizens of the neighborhood. I enjoyed the show when it aired, even though I wasn't exactly part of its intended target audience. |

Went to Books-a-Million with the nephew. Picked up the 1st season of I Dream of Jeannie for $5. It is one of those series I didn't like well enough to pay full price for. But it's definitely worth $5 to me. |

The 1/2 price Criterion sale is on at Barnes & Noble; I got the Tati set on BD for $62. I picked up Batman Season 1 on DVD for $21 at Dimple Records, too. But my BIG haul was from a flea market this weekend, a huge batch of DVDs, including the Gaumont Treasures 1897-1913 set and a huge set of the Best of Naked City ($5 each) and a bunch o' single DVDs for $2 each, including West of Zanzibar with Lon Chaney, The Indian Tomb, and several more. Good haul. |

My big thing is the Les Blank set, on its way from Barnes & Noble -- can't remember the last time I was this psyched. His movies are so great, and they used to be hard to find. I finally ran into him at the San Fran Silent Film Festival and he told me he sold his stuff on a website, but they were expensive and the service was, um, artistic. I bought a couple, both of which fortunately aren't in this set. Kudos to his kids for making so many of his pictures available at a sensible price. He was a master filmmaker and I'm thrilled that I will soon get to know his movies that I haven't seen. |
