Stopped by Blockbuster and Movie Gallery. Neither had Transformers for rent. So I went ahead and purchased it from Wal-Mart. Turned out to be a good decision as I would likely have ended up buying it anyway.

Arrived today, that Steve Canyon DVD talked about elsewhere in the Balcony. Found cheap at a used DVD store, VCI's Western Noir Vol. 1 (Little Big Horn and Rimfire), Alfred Hitchcock Presents Season 2, and Route 66, Vol. 1.

For some odd reason I thought yesterday was Saturday. Well, I was horribly, horribly wrong. So I can add Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season 3 and The Hurricane (1937) to the arrivals list.

Received 2 DVDs from Amazon.com today, The Jazz Singer which is a classic and the Sam Katzman Icons of Horror Collection which isn't. But if the rest of the movies in the set are as much good cheesy fun as The Giant Claw it should be a real hoot.

The Great Northfield, Minnesota Raid. A shipment from Grapevine, with Revolt of the Zombies, King of the Zombies (the latter of which is my fave Monogram) and The Lady in Grey. And, as I'd forgotten to mention earlier, that MGM Holiday box with March of the Wooden Soldiers.

And, even though I didn't care for his last film, I found a used copy of Jules Dassin's Thieves Highway for under $20, and who can pass up a Criterion at that price, hmm?

Stopped by Odd Lots today and found some bargains.

16 episodes of "Medic" with Richard Boone, 10 episodes of the "Hawkeye " series with John Hart and Lon Chaney and "Robinson Crusoe on Clipper Island" (NOT in Malavision). All 3 were only $4 each. I spotchecked the discs and for $4 each...they look pretty good.

Expect The Jazz Singer to show up today. Also picked up the American Silent Horror Collection, primarily for The Cat and the Canary and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which I haven't seen in years.

Also this week, filling in gaps: Les Vampires, Judex, and The Forgotten Films of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle.

Love the Aztec Mummy series. Mexican Horror from the '50s at its best. Personal favorite: Wrestling Women vs the Aztec Mummy. The mummy can not only change into a bat, but he can wrestle too.

I just read that we have Malcolm McDowell to thank for this week's DVD release of O Lucky Man! Malcolm agreed to participate in the commentary and bonus features of the new Clockwork Orange release on the condition that Warners release O Lucky Man!

For those of you that have never seen O Lucky Man!, it is simply one of the greatest British films ever made. It also has an amazing soundtrack by The Animals founder Alan Price. It gets my highest recommendation!

I didn't get anything this week but expect to receive 3 titles each of the next 2 weeks. Next week's offerings include some classic stuff as I'll be getting the 5th edition of Looney Tunes Golden Collection plus the first volume of that new series of Three Stooges shorts plus a Biography of John Wayne. The week after that I'll be getting some TV shows.
