I just read that we have Malcolm McDowell to thank for this week's DVD release of O Lucky Man! Malcolm agreed to participate in the commentary and bonus features of the new Clockwork Orange release on the condition that Warners release O Lucky Man!

For those of you that have never seen O Lucky Man!, it is simply one of the greatest British films ever made. It also has an amazing soundtrack by The Animals founder Alan Price. It gets my highest recommendation!

I read that, too, PP. I was on the fence whether to take a chance on this one, but I will go with your recommendation and pick it up soon.

Arrived today, the new Criterion Breathless, a pair of Bartolucci films, The Dreamers and Last Tango in Paris, the new Black Sabbath (in Italian!) from Starz/Anchor Bay, and Maurice Jarre's concert tribute to the music of David Lean, a DVD/CD 2-disc set.

This week's arrivals at Rancho Yesteryear:

In the world of boomer television, several essential boxsets: Wanted: Dead or Alive: Season 3, Ironside: Season 2, Route 66: Season 1, Volume 1 and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: Season 3, Volume 2. (I'd just like to go on record here and say that this "split season" concept is the work of Satan himself.)

From eFilmic.com, the 1935 screwball classic Ruggles of Red Gap.

From across the pond, Region 2 copies of Went the Day Well? (1942) and Brighton Rock (1947). Plus Siodmak's Cry of the City (1948), a disc I'm really stoked to watch when I can find the time.

I also picked up The Jazz Singer 3-DVD set that other Balconeers have so glowingly written about in other threads on the board.

Finally, a brief journey to Oldies.com, where I am helpless to heed the down-and-dirty siren call of five Alpha DVD's for $25.00. I picked up "C" Men (1949), The Capture (1950), Fear in the Night (1947), Woman on the Run (1950) and a double feature of Please Murder Me (1956)/A Life at Stake (1954).

My monthly haul was a big one, with lots of good stuff being out. New to the Batcave:

The Jazz Singer
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Ultimate Edition)
Fox Horror Classics
The Three Stooges Collection
The Adventures of Aquaman: Complete Series
The Paul Lynde Halloween Special
The Man Who Changed His Mind
Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season Three
Young Indiana Jones Adventures: Volume 1
The Sam Katzman Collection
Felix: Complete Series
Droopy: Complete Series
Black Sabbath (Boris Karloff film)

Luckily the DVD store I frequent is a specialty shop that matches or beats Amazon for me, and I buy all my stuff from them.

Didn't even get the new Looney Tunes, but I was at the store Monday, so I could "push" that DVD to nex month's trip, since it wouldn't be released until Tuesday.

Picked up Spiderman 3 today. Watched it with my nephew who really liked it. The Spiderman films aren't my favorite superhero films. But I do like them including this one.

Today, I got Knocked Up.

Well, THAT doesn't sound right.

And I got what sounds like a final baseball score: Looney Tunes 5, Spider-Man 3. Highlights at 11!

I dunno, but it sounds like one of those soft-core Cinemax flicks, so prob'ly Misty Mundae.

I arrived home from a bi'ness trip to find a nice box of new releases from VCI and two serials from Rodney (thanks, pal!) that I shall review and post anon, or anoner.
