Today I received the Katzman set in the mail. I went by Best Buy to get it 8 days ago and was told BB wasn't carrying it, or at least this one wasn't. I ordered it at the store online and picked up a 2 disc edition of THE DEVILS REJECTS for 5 bucks. |

Lost Continent is incredibly dull and I've never seen Green Hell, but She Demons is one of the greatest "bad movies" ever -- right up there with Plan 9 and Robot Monster and Killer Shrews. A classic. 3 for $20 sale at Hollywood Video netted me The Good Shepherd, The Good German, and (not Good) The U.S. vs. John Lennon. A 30% off coupon at Borders netted me the Babs Stanwyck Signature Collection with six movies. |

I don't think the BB's in my area are carrying the Three Stooges set...talk about strange................I also looked for the Katzman set as well........considering how well the Sci Fi Collection or Universal Horror set did you would think they would carry more classic Product I picked up the Three stooges set from Walmart and after the reviews from fellow Balconeers I am looking forward to viewing it.... |

I had to pick up the Stooges set at Walmart as well, and I try not to buy anything from Walmart. Best Buy didn't carry it at any location near me (when that happens they can't even special order it from the warehouse--stupidest corporate practice ever). Target wasn't stocking it. Borders could special order it, but didn't carry it. Usually, I'd order the set online or from a retailer I liked, but I was really in the mood for some eye pokes. I demanded immediate satisfaction. It seems strange that few places are carrying this. I looked at Walmart, and they had seven copies, but I wanted to see if I could purchase it somewhere else. The next day, they had one copy left. This set is obviously selling, and it seems like perfect Christmas gift material. |

it seems like, in my area at least, Target and Best Buy are giving most of their shelf space to new releases of the latest theatrical stuff and TV shows. If you're not looking for the 2007 summer hits or Season 5 of Friends, you're out of luck. No Stooges at all and when I went looking for some classic horror fare for Halloween, the local Best Buy had just dusted off stuff that I saw there last year for Halloween. |

Most of the retailers appeared to be a bit "light" with Halloween based films....sort of tying in with the Best Buy stocking mentality....although they are still in print none of the Best Buys stock the Universal sets (Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman etc)
Same here...however no retailers had the set....In fact I had to go to 3 different Walmarts to find the stooges (two of them were sold out) and the third had only one set....Overall the set was so scarce that I thought the street date had changed and Walmart jumped the gun... I generally buy stuff online however I leave that for things that generally would not show up in chains and stuff (grapevine releases and such or great prices on box sets) I thought the stooges would be all over the place.......silly ole me. |

I've seen the (green) Universal legacy sets in Best Buy lately, so they're still in some of 'em. Today I got Ratatouille (and if you haven't seen it, you're in for a treat) and Michael Moore's Sicko, plus a bunch of $1 DVDs I found at Target, from a company called PC Treasures of Oxford, MI. The titles are (ready for this?) 1960s Blooper Bonanza (with bloopers from Star Trek, Laugh In, and McHale's Navy), two volumes of Davey and Goliath, something called Game Show Classics, with 6 episodes from the '50s of such faves as I've Got a Secret, What's My Line, and To Tell the Truth, with original commercials. Finally, there's a real impulse buy: a 2-hour compilation of Hanna-Barbera TV shows called Cartoon Crackups, with all my fave characters from my misbegotten yout'. This one was five whole dollars. |

In addition to the new, improved Cap'n Video, my Wednesday night trip to the "3 for $20 sale" netted me Bowery at Midnight (the "official" release from the Lugosi estate), a double feature of the Lon Chaney films Nomads of the North and The Shock, and Terror is a Man. |

I've been making the rounds of all the discount houses and purchased a Dean Martin double feature of "Who Was That Lady?" (with Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh) and "How to Save a Marriage" (with Stella Stevens). I also found "The Steve McQueen Box Set" which contains "Baby the Rain Must Fall" and "The War Lover". The discs were $3 each. Plus for $3, I found a copy of "The Wild Geese" with Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris and Stewart Granger. I've never seen this one and am looking forward to watching it. |
