I appreciate the previous posts about the Stooges set, I wouldn't have thunk Wal*Mart. This am before work I stopped by W*M and picked it up along with the 3rd season of The Outer Limits. |

Third season of The Outer Limits? But...that show only lasted two seasons! Unless you're talking of the much inferior remake of recent years...

Well, it's Saturday (I checked to make sure)...let's see what the postal person brought to Rancho Yesteryear this week. In the world of classic television, The Real McCoys: Season 2, Family Affair: Season 4 and Suspense: The Lost Collection, Volume 2. I also picked up a few Britcoms from the other side of the pond: Series 2 of Billy Liar, Series 1 and 2 of Shelley, and The Goodies: The Complete LWT Series (LWT stands for London Weekend Television). Moviewise, Columbia House was having a 3 for $20 sale, enabling me to pick up copies of Gunga Din (1939) and The Ladykillers (1955). I couldn't find a third classic, though--so while I was leaning toward cinematic underdog Crossing Delancey (1988) I ended up going with the Nixon parody Dick (1999) instead. Rounding things out, The Looney Tunes Golden Collection, Volume 5--discussed, of course, on a previous thread. |

This was a week for silents. While traveling I found a mint Betty Bronson Peter Pan in a bookstore in Mountain View, California; a few days later, in Ashland, Oregon, I picked up a new discounted copy of The Lost World. Searched for and found an out-of-the-box The Winning of Barbara Worth on ebay, and finally received Les Vampires, which I'd ordered on ebay a month ago. A Woman in Grey showed up from Grapevine (among the speediest and most reliable sellers anywhere). Though our local Borders seldom carries ANY dvd I might happen to be looking for, it did have Battleship Potemkin today, which made my 30% off coupon actually worth using. |

I picked up the Flight of the Conchords: Season 1 set. I also placed an order for a promising-looking British "booze movie" from the madcap mind of Bonzo Dog Band's Vivian Stanshall--Sir Henry At Rawlinson End. Sir Henry was only available on Region 2 DVD, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Tower.com sells several Region 2 videos in the states. It was a lot cheaper purchasing Sir Henry from Tower than from any of the UK sites, especially once you figure in shipping fees. |

Veteran's Day pickups: well, a double feature of British Tod Slaughter horror films of the 1930s, Murder in the Red Barn and The Face at the Window. Best Buy is having a sale on select Disney DVDs; 5 for $30. I bought a bunch of Christmas presents for wee kids I know, and added The Rescuers and Darby O'Gill and the Little People to my collection, and Jerry Blake: I want you to know that it is YOUR slavish devotion to this film that prompted me to do so! Oh, yeah, I got the Jack Nicholson double-feature special edition of Chinatown and The Two Jakes, too, plus Ride the Wild Surf and "Classic Musicals from the Dream Factory, Vol. 2" which has The Pirate, Words and Music, That's Dancing!, That Midnight Kiss, The Toast of New Orleans, Royal Wedding, and Belle of New York. |

Amazon.com is haviung some sales this week and I just ordered a couple of titles. I ordered the first two seasons of Leave It To Beaver for $19.99 each...those are the only seasons that have been released, unfortunately. The first 5 seasons of Smallville are now available at $14.99 and I ordered the 5th season as I already have seasons 1-4. |

Picked up Shrek the third and that will be my last purchase for a while. With the start of Christmas shopping, I cut back so others have easy gift options. My wife asked for a list from me and just about everything I want is coming out this coming Tuesday- Mission Impossible Season 3 Wild Wild West Season 3 Crossroads 2007 Also, since she is a Christmas movie fanatic, I have Santa Clause 3 coming for her. |

I liked the first two Santa Clause movies. Of course, they had the added advantage of not having Martin Short in the cast... |
