Yesterday, got a box from Quality Information Publishers. Inside was two hours' worth of complete, uncut Soundies, plus a 24-disc *gasp* collection of educational films of the '30s-'60s, just tons of fun films.

I received a pair of DVDs from Grapevine Video yesterday--a 1924 comedy entitled Open All Night (with Raymond Griffith in a small role) and their Phantom Carriage/Stroke of Midnight release.

I'll miss ya, but may succumb to the very same fate someday, myself. <_<

Hey, there seem to be some leftover previously-released box sets showing up at Costcos at very good prices. Got the 9-film Hitchcock Signature collection (retail price $100, $74 on Amazon) for $45, (and also the newly-released Classic Musicals Vol 3 for the same price) today; they also had the early film noir and gangster collections there, going for $26 each, as well as several other sets that I hadn't seen there lately (Henry Fonda, Bogart/Bacall, etc.)--it may be worth looking there if you missed out on a good deal on some of the Warners collections. ALso, Citizen Kane, Giant, others for $8.99. Sheesh.

If only we had a Costco...

Yesterday, I received my region 2 copies of Rock-a-Bye Baby (1958) and The Devil Rides Out (1968).

Two additional Region 2 discs arrived in the mailbox of Rancho Yesteryear today: Johnny Guitar (1954)--which, from the screen grabs at DVD Beaver seems to be a better copy than the one I bought previously--and Riot in Cell Block 11 (1954).

Yeah, I know! I have been tryin' to get ANYBODY to let me do commentary, but everybody seems to know an out of work actor who does it instead.
