I received three out of the four Universal Cinema Classics in today's mail: She Done Him Wrong (1933), Easy Living (1937) and Midnight (1939). (I already have The Major and the Minor, double-billed with Bachelor Mother on a Region 2 DVD.)

The She Done Him Wrong disc does have a bonus cartoon, a spoof called She Done Him Right that features Walter Lantz's cartoon "superstar" Pooch the Pup.

How is THIS for a score... Today, I obtained three Criterions, #138 (Kurosawa's Rashomon), #221 (Kurosawa's Ikiru), and #309 Mizuguchi's Ugetsu), and they cost me... nothing. Nada. Zilch. Brand new, still in the shrink wrap.

I think I'll go watch one.

I've never seen any of these films... Fire up the popcorn popper, Mabel!

Local Pittsburgh store, Eide's Entertainment, had their anniversary sale this week, so I picked up the 2-Disc Special Edition of Strangers on a Train for $17.

Eide's Entertainment??? Hey, I used to buy comic books there! I belonged to the Pittsburgh Comix Club and we used their basement as the place we used to meet...and I remember showing Fleischer Superman cartoons there...which I had on Super 8 sound film (it was during the beginning days of the VCR). I haven't been there in awhile, though.

Today I got 4 movies on DVD...mostly beefing up my Julia Roberts Collection with Charlie Wilson's War, I Love Trouble and Mona Lisa Smile but I also got Something's Gotta Give which she wasn't in.
