Costco had a bunch of $22.99 boxed sets from Fox, including some I had (Betty Grable, both Will Rogers sets), some I passed up (Ernest Hemingway Collection) and one I opted for, the Marilyn Monroe set with Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Let's Make Love, Niagara, River of New Return, The Seven Year Itch, and Marilyn Monroe's Final Days. |

A nice trip to Dimples yesterday and R5 Records too, and let me remind all Balconeers how much fun it is to patronize your local independent record stores, so long as you don't patronize them, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I found a 4-DVD set called Four Flicks, which captures the Rolling Stones 2002-2003 "Licks" tour at various venues and paid a grand total of $8.49 for it. I also got Heaven, the 1987 documentary by Diane Keaton, the new special edition of the Paul Naschy horror classic Curse of the Devil, and a couple of surprises that I'll write more about later. |

I got the new Universal Legacy 2-disc edition of The Mummy (1932), which not only comes with a new documentary of the making of the film, two different commentaries, a Mummy trailer gallery, a posters/stills galler, a documentary on Jack Pierce, a documentary on Universal's Mummy films, and the Universal Horror documentary narrated by Kenneth Branagh, but also a ticket to see the new Mummy sequel with Brandon Fraser, which comes out... um... soon. |

Everyone's making me so jealous with their Rockford Files sets! This week I'm spending my time copying off my old VHS to DVD, but I did buy one: "The Conversation" with Gene Hackman. And I pre-ordered the MST3K 20th Anniversary box without knowing which episodes are actually included. |

Funny you should mention that... Last night, after episodes of The Venture Bros. (Brock Samson loose in the villainous Monarch's lair, leading to this exchange): Monarch: "Unleash -- the BUTTERFLIES!" (A load of dead butterflies drops on Brock's shoulders and head) Monarch: "Okay, whose job was it to feed the butterflies?!?" ...and Newhart, an episode of which had no butterflies whatsover, I watched the first episode from season one of Rockford. Delightful. |

Incidentally, one correction to what I posted yesterday about the new special edition of The Mummy (1932): the documentary on the making of the film, which I watched last night, is a rerun from the 1999 DVD release. The other stuff is new. I haven't compared the new transfer with the older ones, yet. |
