I hope the 3rd season of Venture Bros is released uncensored. When I got the second season, it had been advertised as "uncensored" but wasn't; Jackson Publick mentioned on his blog that he was irritated by this, and discovered the master audio had all the naughty words bleeped out.

I like the naughty words. Sue me.

Tangent: I saw "The Mummy" on TCM years ago and heard the audio for another movie playing in the background. Someone on Usenet identified the sound as from the 1980s Twilight Zone movie, and I think they're right. I have no idea how that happened, but it totally ruined the film for me.

Finally decided to get the Hiya Kids!! A 50's Saturday Morning Box set. Watched the Sheena episode which I liked. If the episodes of The Cisco Kid, Roy Rogers, Sky King and Annie Oakley are different from the ones I already have I'll definitely consider it money well spent.

Marlin, how would you rate the picture and sound quality of that set?

I haven't seen anything but the Sheena episode so I can't give an overall answer. The audio on the Sheena epsiode was fine. There was little dirt or damage to the video and the contrast was reasonably good. But the picture was on the soft side. I'd call it watchable.

Okay, thanks. I haven't decided yet whether to get it or not. Maybe I can use a small portion of my stimulus check for it?

The picture and sound quality I've seen (and I've seen 6 or 7 of the episodes) have been uniformly good. Naturally, these shows aren't going to be pristine.

If "bad words" are bleeped out on the master tapes (for airing of the show), then the DVDs aren't censored. Having the bleeps removed would not add to my enjoyment of any of the episodes. There isn't all that much bleeping going on anyway, at least in the season 1 shows I've seen.

I'm glad to see some mention of THE VENTURE BROS. It's my favorite show on television right now. Not only is the show laugh-out-loud hilarious, I find myself caring a lot about the characters. The writing is far above the level one finds on the rest of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim line-up. So far, Season 3 has been just as hilarious as the first two.

By the way, you guys sucked me into the Big Lots thing. Normally, I wouldn't set foot in the place unless I was craving expired cereal, but they do have a lot of interesting titles in the $3 DVD case. I picked up many of the same discs that Gravy purchased recently. THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES has always been a favorite of mine, and the Cook/Moore version of THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES is a truly awful guilty pleasure. I would have also picked up BUBBA HO-TEP, but I already own it.

Picked up a couple versions of Journey to the Center of the Earth. First was a 1988 version starring a bunch of actors I've never heard of. I watched it last night. Once they get to the center of the Earth it turns weird. Unfortunately not any kind of good weird. Second was a 2007 version starring Ricky Schroder, Victoria Platt, and Peter Fonda which i haven't seen yet.

You mean the one-two-three-four occupation G.I. Blues?

Went all over town today looking for Birds of Prey the complete series. After looking at both Wal-Marts, CostCo, and Circuit City I finally found it at Target.

I got three items yesterday...

Hiya Kids!!: A 50s Saturday Morning
Blue Blazes Rawden
The Silent Man

The last two are silent westerns starring William S. Hart. They were ordered from Amazon but are actually put out by Sinister Cinema, my first titles from them.
