After yesterday's funny book reading I had a hankering to watch Monty Python And The Holy Grail, one of my favorite funny films. Picked up a 2 disc set at Wal*Mart for 8 bucks.

Got five 4-movie sets of "Rare Roy Rogers" films, most of which I have never seen on any compilations. Ran across them when looking for stuff at Amazon. Have no idea if the quality is any good since I haven't played any yet. I'm a sucker for Rogers films. They're from an outfit called Reel Enterprises, which I had never heard of. Anybody know anything about these guys?

The films are available separately for about $9 apiece but the 4-disk collections are only $25 so I went that route even though I duplicated a couple of items I had. If anyone is interested I'll let you know what they look like when I have a chance to view them. I do suspect these are sourced from old TV station tapes because most of the run times are under 60 minutes per movie.

Putting them away, I realized I'd forgotten to mention I got Criterion #441 (The Small Back Room) and the Honey West complete series.

A recent search of the James Bond titles in my collection showed that I didn't have Thunderball on DVD so I picked up a copy at Wal-Mart today. Then I received Quark the Complete Series from Amazon.com.

Based on the overwhelming word-of-mouth received right here in the Balcony, I purchased Criterion #231 today (Fritz Lang's The Testament of Dr. Mabuse). To get up to $25 for free shipping, I got a baseball doubleheader, Kill the Umpire with William Bendix and Safe at Home with Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, the last two N.Y. Yankees I could stand.

I think this is best seen after watching Dr Mabuse:The Gambler
