I watched the first half last night; it's beautiful. Really.

THE GENERAL was my pick of the month! I can't wait to get my hands on it, especially with the exceptional Carl Davis score. I haven't seen it in stores yet, and with the way the economy is, I'd rather support my local businesses than order it through the Internet. However, with this disc I may not have a choice.

I'd like to take that stance as well. But finding classic releases locally has always been hit or miss and lately more miss than hit.

I am lucky enough to have a local specialty DVD store that can order in anything for me. Not only that, they will beat Amazon's price on everything for me (even if it is only by $1, in some cases). This way I get to avoid the hassles of internet buying (returns, damages, etc), but get to enjoy the online savings. Also, I am supporting the local economy.

I'm sure that inheritance from your deceased parents doesn't hurt either, your Wayneliness.

Yes, it is quite helpful. Paying Alfred slave-wages helps, too.

Bats, I have been watching The Big Bang Theory since it first aired...now I can watch it anytime I want. I loved the reference to LOL Cats (I Can Eat Cheeseburger?) on the most recent episode...

Yesterday I got the 7th season set of Scrubs...

A great show, Rog, I'm glad you are enjoying it. I am a couple of episodes behind on the new season, so I don't get the "catburger" reference - yet. I do know what I will be watching tonight, now.

Got a whole bunch of stuff in the mail yesterday. Too many to list but wanted to mention the new 75th Anniversary Lone Ranger set. This one is really nice. There's a nice booklet and the extras are replicas of some of the trading cards and club memberships you used to send away for. There's a disk with three of the '60s cartoon episodes and one of the radio program episodes.

Watched the first two episodes and these are the best I have ever seen these shows. If all you've ever seen are the various PD versions of the Ranger TV shows floating around, you will really like these because the picture quality is really good. If you're a Ranger fan, you'll have to have this set.

Thanks for the review, Jazzy. I will be getting this set, but it is coming a couple of weeks later up here. It sounds great!

Got my copy of Dick Tracy vs. Crime, Inc. in today's mail.

Also received notice that the Budd Boetticher box set is coming my way...I can't wait for that one to arrive.

L. G. - thanks for the heads up regarding the Randolph Scott piece on the Greenbriar site.
It's the most I've learned about my favorite westerns in years.
It's funny in a way that my favorite tv cowboys, Cheyenne Bodie and Bret Maverick killed the cowboy movie.
It's a great read - I had trouble going to sleep last night rehashing in my brain what I'd read.
Cool graphics too!

And I was just handed my Boetticher set by the postman...it's like something out of a movie!
