Watching Manhunt of Mystery Island. Not great but not terrible either. Richard Bailey reminds me of a cross between Joe DiMaggio and Jerry Seinfeld.

No, I'm not watching any good serials, just Restored Serials dreaded YOUNG EAGLES. In the Cliffhanger Productions chat room we discussed every available serial, then rated them on a 1-10 scale and YE pulled down a nifty 1.1, only 8.9 behind SPY SMASHER. It was dead last by a large margin. My first exposure was many years ago by someone who had a print of it, and his comment was " A fat kid running through the jungle just doesn't cut it as a good serial." There is no real plot, no McGuffin, no real villain until chapter 10, mostly the two scouts just trying to survive. About the best things I can say about it is I still say QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE is even more wretched, with even worse production values, the cliffhangers aren't bad, and some Columbia's like JUNGLE MENACE, HOP HARRIGAN, and CHICK CARTER, DETECTIVE are much harder to sit through.

Arch villain Fouracada (Sebastian Cabot) tests out his new weapon by killing everyone in two small British towns by blasting them with a sonic beam. He then sets about to destroy England, using his weapon from a high tower, unless special agent Dick Barton can stop him.
It actually is not quite that cut and dried and it's not a great movie, but for a 1949 British film . . . was better that I expected.
Of the three Barton films, "Strikes Back" is rated the best by those who have seen all three. I've only seen this one.
Sadly, Don Stannard and his wife were killed in an automobile accident driving home from the "wrap party" for this film, putting an end to the series.

We're watching, of course, G-Men vs. the Black Dragon on our Friday night movies... So far, the main interest for the group is Haruchi's accent, and whether it is Mexican, Italian, Ukrainian, or what (certainly not Japanese). So whenever we quote him, we sound-a just like-a Chico Marx, boss.

Just started Zorro'sBlack Whip and Zorro Rides Again.
Both good serials - Zorro's Black Whip was my first DVD serial and, I'm proud to say, the DVD was English!

First saw Zorro's Black Whip in an all-night show at the Classic Cinema in Southampton in the early 70s when it was coupled with Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe - the things you do when you're young!

Dick Barton Strikes Back was filmed after Dick Barton at Bay but the Studio thought better and released it first as this is the best of the 3 movies that were made. I read somewhere possibly on Trev Scott's site that Sebastian Cabot was also in the car that killed Stannard and his wife but luckily survived.

Today I received a package from Trevor with the CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT television series, and the first 16 Three Mesquiteers westerns, he also threw in LAW OF THE 45's, THE INVISIBLE MONSTER, and THE CLUTCHING HAND. Took a quick peek at them and they all look like really nice quality. Of course i won't copy them for others.

The Invisble Monster is one that I want to pick up sometime. Is Trevor offering that on DVD?

Of Course Trev sells Invisible Monster. This is one of his favorite serials as his email address is Lane Carson who happens to be the hero of the serial. He also throws in Slaves of the Invisible Monster which is the Century 66 edited movie release of the serial.

Unfortunately Stanley Price is way too weak an actor to play the main villain, He was much better as a one chapter character.

Have to disagree, Pa. The way he smacks his lips and pops his eyes cracks me up.
Life is just a bowl of cherries, it's too mysterious, don't take it serious...

Panzer, somewhere I read that one fan's nickname for Price was "The whiner." He might crack you up, but just try and compare him to Middleton or Barcroft, and you will see what I mean.
Colorist, the set contains 37 episodes, so I believe two episodes of CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT are missing. Trev is in here as Lane Carson, his web site is Down Under DVDs. I sent an order, and he mailed it off in one day.
