I'm 11 chapters in on The Green Archer, and I think it's a very fine serial. People who gripe constantly about Columbia serials get to me. This one is highly enjoyable. |

Got a couple of freebies: "The Call of the Savage" and "The Secret of Treasure Island". Know nothing about either of these. Are either or both worth a watch? |

I've seen both of these titles and they are both entertaining. Unfortunately the quality of the recording isn't great |

I am revisiting The Secret of Treasure Island as we speak. It is one of my favorites. I got my copy from Fred Shay. The print is a little jumpy here and there, especially Chapter one and there are a few splices; however, the sound and image are quite good. It is a fun and the actors seem to be enjoying themselves. Grab your favorite adult beverage and enjoy watching. I just finished Jungle Jim. Given the hype, I found this one disappointing. Excellent copy form VCI via Fred Shay. Other than Ray Hatton, the actors seemed to be walking through the serial - no emotion shown whatsoever. The direction was no better. |

Last night was chapter 12 of Ace Drummond. I've enjoyed this serial and all the red herring dragons....one more week and I'll find out who's the Dragon.... maybe! .....also, chapter 9 of Zorro's Fighting Legion. Don Diego is half heartedly accused of being Zorro because the 2 are never seen together. The accusation stems from a patsy being accused of being Don Del Oro. I'm enjoying the hell outta this one too, although I now know the musical score by heart since it's played over and over and......makes me wanna buy some castanets

From the third thrilling episode of The Vanishing Legion; Harry Carey tries to round up some of his camp workers to battle the villains, and he's told... "We came here to WORK! If we wanted to fight, we'd a' joined the ARMY!" |

Yesterday was 2 chapter 1's. 1st up, Gangbusters. What a hoot, bringing deadgangsters back to life. I like that lair also, under the subway. Well, a subway train is one way to get killed. Ta other, The Mysterious Dr Satan. Chapter 1- The Return Of The Copperhead. Hey, this one looks damn good already. Satan and Copper have already met face-to-face. A lot of action compaired to some other chapter 1's I've seen. |

I'm lookin' forward to both of 'em! Saturday's 2 fisted serials are The Adv. Of Capt. Marvel and The Shadow, replacing my double feature Lugosi serials. |

Two more winners, though The Shadow is pretty much in the "so bad it's good" category. Great villain though. |

BTW, I don't think The Shadow is "bad" at all, Stony. I think it's Columbia's best serial. |

I like The Shadow, but not as much as Deadwood Dick or The Spider's Web. |

A concerned Michael Fox to Kirk Alyn in chapter 12 of Blackhawk: "More trouble?" Alyn: "No thanks, we just had some." |
