Obviously I have heard of Ovaltine. I have not heard of Moxie or Cocoa Marsh. There is a drink here in the mid-west called Yoo-Hoo. It is a non-refrigerated chocolate milk drink. I tried a few years back...oh my gawd was it bed. It tasted like a really diluted chocolate milk. Bad...bad...bad. Have any of you heard of Yoo-Hoo? Kan |

It's just sold, like Coca~Cola, warm on the shelf.

I used to enjoy Yoo-Hoo. Best enjoyed refrigerated like Stony said. Anyone remember the old Yogi Berra Yoo-Hoo commercials that would play at drive-ins & theaters back in the mid-60s? Also, Yoo-Hoo ( the VANILLA version ) makes a couple of cameos in the George Pellcanos novel A FIRING OFFENSE. One of the main characters drinks vanilla Yoo-Hoo habitually to nurse a stomach ulcer he develops. Tums would have worked better, IMO. |

I still drink Yoo Hoo (refridgerated) on occasion and yes I do remember the old Yogi commercials - priceless. For some reason, the local Korean grocers stock Yoo Hoo in the energy drink section (!), not with the other sodas. Moxie is only available in Maine and Japan that I know of. |

In college I used to always have chocolate milk in my little mini fridge-- and I had one friend who always thought to bring something when he stopped by-- he took my fondness for chocolate milk as a sign I'd like this watery slop called Yoo Hoo and would bring BOXES of the stuff! After trying to give it away I finally had to beg him to stop. He couldn't understand how I couldn't like chocolate water! |

I still drink chocolate Yoo-Hoo once an a while. Its like a nostalgia thing. It still tastes the same as it did 45 years ago!! Not a bad drink, at all. It is readily available here on the east coast. |

OK, you guys have convinced me!!!
Years ago I liked Ovaltine and drank a lot of it and had a bad experience with Yoo-Hoo.
I am going to get a bottle of both Ovaltine and Yoo-Hoo and will report back on how my taste buds react to those products now that I am an old geezer.Kan |

Yoo-Hoo is without a doubt one of the nastiest things I've ever imbibed. |

Watch out, Kan! A few years ago, I thought it would be fun to try Spam again, "just for old time's sake."
Gag! Retch! Puke! I don't know how I ever choked the stuff down so many years ago! The unused portion, which was all but one small bite, went straight to the trash bin without passing GO!
UGH!!

I tried Ovaltine again a few years ago and it was as foul as I remembered. Funny thing about Spam - in Hawaii, it's a popular dish. A legacy left over from WW II, not doubt. They fry it and it's more edible when hot. |

I've been watching Vigilantes Are Coming and enjoying it. It's really early Republic, more like a Mascot, but it has it's own charm. The Eagle is a blatant ripoff of Zorro, but Robert Livingston is good in the role. Watching the Russian cossacks in their heavy coats and fur hats riding around sunny California is a hoot. Robert Warwick as Count Raspinoff is tremendous - one of his best roles. Fred Kohler's plan to become a dictator of a Russian colony in California is certainly unique. It's fun seeing Livingston work with Crash Corrigan, who briefly cameos as Capt. Fremont, as they would be shortly working together in the enjoyable Three Mesquiteers series. Raymond Hatton and Big Boy Williams make fine sidekicks. Some of the worst cliffhanger cheats I've ever seen, however! |
