Don Diego:
Like just about everyone else my VHS copy was so so but I bought a copy from Trev Scott and aside from having all 15 chapters on 1 disc the quality is not that bad. That being said it doesn't make the serial anymore palatable. I agree with Black Tiger that Don McGuire is more suited in playing a villain. Now if someone could find a decent copy of Bruce Gentry now their is a good serial.

I have Rodney's Congo Bill, which is on two discs, as are all of his serials. It's been awhile since I watched it, but I've yet to have any real complaints about anything I've purchased from Rodney. They've all been very watchable and cheap too and I'll keep tootin' this horn until I find a clinker!

I finished The Three Musketeers last night. I enjoyed it. The fight scenes are short but are humorous. Like many of the serials I've watched, the villian isn't exposed till the end, ya know, he's El Shaitan, no he's El Shaitan, then finally someone is grabbed from off camera and HE'S El Shaitan. I love it.

It's a fun serial, Stony, as is the other John Wayne serial that I have seen, THE SHADOW OF THE EAGLE. I have yet to watch THE HURRICAN EXPRESS, but with Mascot and Wayne, you can't go wrong.

I happen to have Shadow Of The Eagle, but no 2 Waynes in a row for me. I did that with the first 2 Flashes and that was enough for me. To replace The Musketeers will be something called Perils Of Nyoka. Anyone heard of it? *L*

From episode nine of The Vanishing Legion, this wonderful exchange:

Hero: "Why did you try to kill your niece?"
Villain: "I haven't seen her since yesterday!"

Advice requested.
I'm considering buying the following dvds which I already have inferior copies of on dvd - I need upgrades.
Should I bother?
TEX GRANGER
VALLEY OF VANISHING MEN
THE VIGILANTE

Are copies of these serials of significant higher quality from, say ... any of the grey market sources -Orsak and Shay included?
After the rather positive posts by L.G., Panzer the G&T, and D.Daredevil in defense of Fred Shay, I'm a bit less leery of trading with Shay than I was previously.

The Three Musketeers is the best Wayne serial, Hurricane Express is next. The Shadow of the Eagle, which I m watching now, is the weakest of the three, but still interesting. Weird to see Bud Osborne in suit, tie and hat throughout the serial. His partner is Yak Canutt.

Mantan, I have the Vigilante. Grey market VHS on two tapes; quality is generally good. The serial itself is just ok. I have not seen either Tex Granger or Valley of Vanishing Men. Both get mixed reviews.

I bought a couple of serials from both Fred Shay and Richard Orsack. They are both pricey but quality is good.

I liked Vigilante and Vanishing Men very much indeed. Never saw Tex.

Last chapter of THE SEA HOUND will be tonight. The serial is a little juvenile, but fun.
Well, I thought that was the last chapter of THE SEA HOUND. Apparentley, this is a 15-chapter serial.

It should have stopped at 12.

Watched chapter 10 of Dick Tracy. Sometimes the dialog in this serial is funny ha-ha and sometimes it's funny like in WTF are they thinkin'.
Funny ha-ha: Smiley Burnette..."I'm a human bloodhound when it comes to gettin' gold!"
When a shipment of gold comes up missing while on a ship at sea, Tracy goes to the ship and talks to an unknown-to-him henchman. The henchman speaks to another henchman with a WTF line: "There's a G-Man on board, go help him. I don't know what he wants!"

Watched the 1st chapter of Nyoka And The Tigermen. Looks promising and I'm expecting a lot, after the kudos it's received ITB.

10 chapters into G-Men Vs. The Black Dragon. I loved it when it started, but it's starting to wear a bit now. Still a lot of fun though.
