Rodney, it does slow down a bit at this point, but picks up again in the last 2-3 chapters. |

Finally finished THE SEA HOUND, which turned out to be a very boring 15-chaper serial that really needed to end after 12. |

I just finished The Hurricane Express. Whew! I found it boring. If you want an early 1930's railroad serial, I'd recommend Universal's "The Lost Special". That was much more interesting. |

I had a copy of "The Lost Special" at one time but it has disappeared. But, it was an absolutely horrible copy. Is there a decent, watchable copy of "The Lost Special" around? Kan |

Million dollar dialog from episode 12 of The Mysterious Pilot... Cap'n Frank Hawks, describing how to get to his super-secret hideout somewhere on the Lost River: "Just fly due east. You can't miss it." |

Loved this exchange in the penultimate episode of Trader Tom of the China Seas... Harry Lauter, discovering a clue: "Now it all adds up!" Aline Towne: "What does it mean?" Harry Lauther: "I don't know!" |

Watching Dick Tracy vs Crime Inc. again reminds me of why this is my favorite Tracy serial. Not only is Ralph Byrd the definitive screen Tracy, but this time he's pitted against a formidable mystery villain, the Ghost, who has to power to become invisible. Worthy henchmen turns by the reliable John Davidson and Anthony Warde add to the villainy. Tremendous action and very fast-paced through most of the serial before a spectacular last chapter finale. My only gripes are over the Ghost's secret identity (no spoilers) and the fact that after seven action-packed chapters, the pace slows down considerably from 8-10 before picking up again in 11 through the conclusion. Another example of how a great 12 chapter serial has been padded to a very good 15 chapter serial. |

Here's an exclamation ya don't hear every day, from chapter 10 of The Vanishing Legion: "Well, I'll be cow-kicked by a mule!" |

Veronica and I started watching Zorro Rides Again, since the showing on the big screen in Boston fell through and we kind of felt cheated. Chapter One was very exciting, although at times Zorro (John Carrol) looked like Don Knotts build wise. Andy |

Watched Perils of Nyoka over the last 3 days while transferring to dvd. And hey guys . . . . I got to kiss Vultura on the cheek at Serial Fest 3 years ago! I had taken a few good photos of her and Frank Capra Jr. at the Charlotte Western Fair two years before and she wanted some copies. She called and wanted more copies and we've sent a few items back and forth since. Her autographed photos as Vultura and the one of her with the Three Stooges are my favorites. She's a very religious lady and her husband was actor David Brian. I asked her and she said, "I don't like to do this, but . . ." and signed "Lorna Gray" on her photo in my Mathis Begin/End Captain America pictorial. She prefers her name change of Adrian Booth. Have an obscure photo of David Brian on a movie set I'm sending her after first of the year. |

Over the holidays I finished Dick Tracy. It was okey, but that's all I think about it. I'm on chapter 8 of Perils Of Nyoka. I can see why so many Balconeers like this one. I'm puzzled though, because Clayton Moore carries a pistol around, but he doesn't shoot it! I'm on chapter 3 of Drums Of Fu Manchu. I like this one too. Creepy villian. |

Moore shoots his pistol several times. The one in his holster, anyway. |

Revisiting Federal Agent 99 - through the first 6 chapters, pretty mundane stuff. Yeah, I know the last chapter is terrific. One thing that has struct me this go around is when asked to raise his hands, Jim Belmont never raises them above his waist. I suggest that the black pin striped suit he is wearing is so tight he can not raise his hands any higher! |

You're probably right, c. But can you explain how a Brit got to be a Federal Agent? |

Easy... he resembled Ralph Byrd and could match stock footage! |
