Woke up early in the A.M. this morning and, of course, found nothing interesting on the tube. Haven't watched any serials in some time, so I grabbed Ghost of Zorro and Captain America.

Ghost got first choice, so I watched the first two chapters.

You don't have to be psychic to know what's going to happen with THIS puppy, nosiree! :D Everything is formula, but still great fun to watch.

Hope I get bored some more later to watch a couple of more chapters.

Watched chapter 11 of Perils Of Nyoka this morn. Tristram Coffin had a small mishap and I think it's all over for him. One thing that struck me as funny in this chapter: Nyoka's father is injected with something that requires him to have surgery, and it's up to Dr. Clayton Moore to do the the cuttin'. As they're about to start, Tristram is discovered as the culprit and he flees......with Nyoka and the surgeon in hot pursuit. After their ordeal with Tristram, Nyoka and Clayton return to camp, and WTF, there's Nyoka's father, up and about and doin' the watusi. Okey, so he's not dancin', but he looks marvelous! The cliffhanger finds Nyoka facing the blade of a pendulum, and....wait, just a few days ago I saw the hero of Drums Of Fu Manchu facing the same dillema.....Also this morning was chapter 6 of DOFM. A mask is made of our hero's face and Manchu uses it in an attempt to leave the country for Asia, and domination of that continent. I like the lighting used when Fu Manchu is filmed.

Both serials are damn good, and I'm groovin' on them.
It's like Rodney King used to say, "Can't we all get a bong."

Well, at lunchtime finished Trader Tom of the China Seas. The best you can say about this serial is that it is... well, pedestrian. What kills me is the "China Seas" part. Compare the sets and locales Republic used with, say, Universal's Ace Drummond. God forbid that Republic should actually even make an EFFORT to provide an exotic atmosphere.

Also watched episode six of Jungle Queen, from which we get the following bit of million-dollar dialog. Our Hero, on the trail of a clue, stops off at a waterfront beer joint, and when his drink arrives, he's told the following by his server:

"We ain't much on lemonade here, so if it tastes rancid-like, don't complain."

Watched the penultimate chapter of The Lady in Grey (very good serial; the masks in ch. 14 were what I'm going to remember this chapterplay for) and of The Vanishing Legion, which is such a good print it's a shame the serial isn't better and that the Serial Squadron f*$cked with it. Anyway, today we had this bit of million-dollar dialog from it...

Skeptical sheriff upon hearing a complaint: "Somebody's kiddin' ya. Nurses don't go 'round kidnapping women."

Where might one purchase a copy of this particular chapterplay, Mr. G?

Mine's from Grapevine. A fine silent serial.

Finished Federal Operator 99. As I stated earlier, nothing new here. Other than the car crashes, I did not see too much stock footage. Fight scenes were pretty well done. Pretty clear that Dale Van Sickle was handling his stunt work.

Incidently, Marten Lamont is apparently alive and 97 years old. Pretty interesting background, screen writer, author and pilot. Not too many screen credits that I could find.

Do you have any information on his whereabouts? IMDB lists only that he was born March 16,1911 in Preston, England. No other info. Somewhere I saw a listing that a Martin Lamont died a few years ago, but they weren't sure it was him. If he is still alive, amazingly enough, he, and co-stars Helen Talbot, and Adrian Booth are all still with us.

Well, whoopee. Somebody needs to tell Jerry Blake. Where is he anyhow?

Bet he got married. Interesting to watch people grow up online.

Marten Lamont got married? At age 97? Wow. Viagra is truly the wonder drug of the ages.

Oh. You mean Jerry.

I think he got upset that I took down some friend's of his links to a racist website. We're a big umbrella here, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Too bad. I miss that guy.

He was a cute kid, but he kept getting weirder. Sorry to hear he fell in with that bunch. Prejudice is so silly.
