At one point, the Dragon speaks through an electric fan. Thought that was way cool.

Pull up Burn em Up Barnes on Wikipedia. There is a link at the end for internet viewing. The movie serials page on Wikipedia had a section of public domain serials that arfe available for online viewing.

I've also been watching Burn em Up Barnes online and have liked that one quite a bit.

BURN 'EM UP BARNES is a classic Mascot serial, Whitney. You're gonna love it. Lots of action, great stunts, a fun story and highly likalbe leads in the reliable Jack Mulhall and the energetic Frankie Darro, and the world. This serial is a blast and easily makes my Top 20. One of Mascot's best.

yes, Bats and I were seperated at birth-- but I was colorized.

Though this blasphemy was performed on my brother, we still love 'em.

no one is ever going to convince me gathering a posse and hunting down and burning every copy of ACE DRUMMOND is a bad idea.

Sorry, bro, I gotta go with the other guys on this one. I only have a really crappola copy of ACE DRUMMOND, from Treeline, but I still found the serial to be fun.

Even the singing adds charm to the proceedings.

I finally got around to watching chapter two of Terry and the Pirates. The print for this chapter still had some speckling and minor damage, though it was a big improvement over chapter one (this is the VCI print). Unburdoned from the necessary set-up pains in chapter one this chapter was much more fun, and clocking in at 21 minutes as opposed to nearly 30 in the first chapter helps keep the pace moving. The cliffhanger has the Leopard Men charging our heroes with spears a-blazin'. Will we be treated to Terry shish kabob in chapter 3? Stay tuned.

Watched the first chapter of Zorro’s Black Whip last night, and while it’s always a treat to see Linda Stirling, this appears to be a run of the mill Republic western……not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’m sure I’ll get through it okay, but I doubt that I’ll be enthralled like I was with my last serial.

I just started watching "The Indians Are Coming" which is an early (the earliest?) talking serial in an OK print from Rodney (not Rodney's fault, I'm sure, since this is probably as good as this one will be from the picture quality standpoint).

Hardly a great serial but interesting for its pioneering. Many of the actors clearly haven't figured out how to act in a sound picture and the overdone gestures and so on of the silent era are laughable, especially Allene Ray as the heroine/love interest. Supposedly the dog is the best "actor" in this serial though Tim McCoy seems decent and Edmund Cobb is Edmund Cobb already (though he's a good guy in this one for a change).

The other curiosity is that, unlike just about every other serial I have seen, the opening summary of the previous chapter is done by an actor in cowboy garb facing the camera and telling you what happened rather than a text summary or a voice-over narration. I think they wanted to really make the point that this was a talkie.

We are about finished with the construction on our house, the furniture is back in place, so I am able to flop out, put my feet up and watch DVDs again. I have 10 serial from Rodney to watch, plus a bunch of AMOS N' ANDYs, a season of ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, and about 100 Three Stooges shorts.
I just started watching Rodney's copy of THE INDIANS ARE COMING. The intros at the beginning of each chapter by an on screen narrator was also done in BATTLING WITH BUFFALO BILL the next year.

Well, I made it through The Lost City, and all I got to say is, as a screamer, Claudia Dell is right up there with Fay Wray.

The thing I remember most about The Lost City is the openong credits where the lead zombie, Hugo, would have that silly, menacing look. Seemed like he was going to grab you and tell you a joke.

And, in addition to her facial and hand movements, does anyone remember Claudia Dell's immortal line in one of the last chapters of Lost City; " It's no use, he's so cru-el! Hilarious stuff for sure.
