Ah, but if you're Time/Warner you're managed by MBAs who believe that success comes from reducing the work force and screwing the customer. Now that I have the cartoons I will never, never do business with them unless they learn to treat customers respectfully (and I'm not holding my breath).

My guess is that they want to avoid paying for warehouse space, while still having a base of consumers willing to pay $30-$40 a set for this stuff without realizing that if they wait a year or two, it can be had for $3-$6.

I'd say that's a pretty darn astute guess. Personally I don't buy many new DVDs, especially not from "Warner," as these heckholes call themselves. I don't mind spending $ for a good cause, but CDs with lyrics about killing cops and beating women aren't that great a cause IMO. They make it clear they don't need my money, so they don't get it.

In view of all the good things that George Feltenstein and the catalogue division have done over the years, it will take a lot more than suing a company which didn’t live up to its contract or anger at the WB music division to turn me against them.

Yeah, I'm with Mr. Hale on this... I don't understand at all. If a Warner Bros. boxed set sells for $60 SRP, and $40 pre-order at Amazon, and then shows up a year later for $25 at Costco, I'm happy. If remaindered DVD sets were then supposed to be destroyed but are being sold for $6 at Big Lots, it costs Warners money, and who would wish that on a company that has been better than anybody at releasing vintage movies (including shorts and cartoons) and TV shows? I mean, I am happy to get that giant "History of Rock & Roll" boxed DVD set for $6, I'm not complaining... but to somehow "blame Warner Bros." for being unhappy about it doesn't make sense to me.
