According to a recent report on tvshowsondvd.com, a Dick Tracy series is coming to DVD, from Sony. No specifics were given, so they are unsure which show is being released. The site is guessing a release of the 1961 animated series as opposed to the 1950-51 live action series. Let's hope they are wrong.

I'm told that it is the UPA animated series for sure.

Pacific Comics Club is doing some nice (but pricey) collections of the Tracy strip.

That is my understanding as well. Wasn't this an incredibly un-PC cartoon, with characters like "Joe Jitsu"?

Thanks for the confirmation, guys, that's too bad. I am not familiar with the animated series, but from the description on tvshowsondvd.com, it doesn't sound very good. Apparently each cartoon is only about 5 minutes long and Dick Tracy is not even part of the action, but just hands out the assignments at the start of the episodes and appears again at the end.
