Just picked p the Kino edition of Metropolis. This is the fullest version of the film still extant. About a fourth of the film is no longer known to exist anywhere. They have added extra title cards to fill in for the missing scenes; so, the story-line makes more sense that it every did in previous version that I have seen. The picture elements are much sharper than I have seen before as well. The vaguely-Brucknerian movie score dates for the Berlin premiere. This is the version to have unless and until someone finds the missing footage in an attic somewhere.

That's all good to hear. I only have a poor copy of the Image version, and I keep missing it on TCM to see if their version has anything different from mine.

Metropolis is one of my fave movies of all time; I saw the restored version on the big screen at the historic Crest Theatre in Sacramento a few years ago. A great night.
