That Hammer book I'm reading doesn't go into why Lee wasn't in the first sequel to (Horror of) Dracula, which turned out to be Brides of Dracula, only that the studio head specifically told the writers that Dracula wasn't going to be Dracula II. Anybody know?

On Hammerweb, Lee mentioned that he was never asked to do Brides and that Racquel Welch asked to meet him when she worked at Hammer Studios in the mid-60s - she told Hammer Executives that Lee was immensely popular in the US and the executives said,

We know, but don't tell him! :D

Lee said that, perhaps, they didn't offer him Brides because,

They would have had to pay me! :D

Rumor has it that Warner Bros. is going to release a Hammer Dracula collection in November, including Horror of Dracula, Drac has Risen from the Grave, Taste the Blood of Dracula, and Drac AD 1972, for under twenny bucks.

Posted Image likes Dracula Has Risen from the Gravy and Taste the Blood of Dracula and likes Scars of Dracula even more - btw, congratulations on that message! :)

I think we can all say the quality of the Hammer Dracula series had really slipped after the first two. I've always felt Horror of Dracula ranks right up as Peter Cushing and Lee's best performances. Any comments?

Those 3 after the slightly disappointing Dracula, Prince of Darkness are all little crackers - check out Maltin's guide - you'll love 'em! ;)

Here's a link to the letter Weasel McPuppy mailed to Christopher Lee:

She hasn't received a response as yet.
