You'll find our Balcony review of this new 2-disc set up at inthebalcony.com! Enjoy, kids!

I purposely held off reading your review until I posted mine at Thrilling Days of Yesteryear; it would seem that we both enjoyed the hell out of this collection--we only differ on which two-reelers we liked the best. Still, an excellent review as always, Mr. Gravy.

By the way, I've haven't gotten through all of the films yet, which is why I didn't praise the same ones you did, necessarily. I'm looking forward to the ones you liked, though.

My overall take on the films is that the intertitles are poor and unfunny, which makes the films seem worse than they are (Beanie Walker's clever and oft-hilarious titles for the Hal Roach films set the standard for silent comedy shorts). Example of "funny" Weiss title: "Take us to the osteopath. He knows all the swell joints." Or "She had started on the road to beauty -- but her face detoured."

Tee-hee. I laughed. Is there no hope for me, LG?
