Just read an interesting article about Elizabetrh Taylor. At 75 she is said to be considering getting married again...for the ninth time. This time to a 47 year old business tycoon.

Also in the article it is said she is in the running to play the Gloria Swanson role in SUNSET BOULEVARD in a huge high budget remake of the 1950 movie. Others to be considered for the role are Glenn Close, Barbra Steisand and Meryl Streep.

I think that would be very interesting considering they could use all of her old footage like a place in the sun or others.......after all she is one of the remaining actresses that are left when people were "stars"

Well, the "I AM big" line will take on a whole new meaning...

Agreed, Inspector, I think she would be perfect for the role.

Obviously it won't star Ms. Taylor, but what ever happened to the big budget remake of SUNSET BOULEVARD?

It went down the Road of Bad Ideas. No commercial potential without somebody like Taylor, and who would that be today? Streep wouldn't touch it, Streisand wouldn't go near it, and Close couldn't do it. You have to have a real star -- maybe Debbie Reynolds could do it if she would, but why would she?

Wouldn't it be great with Doris Day?

I was just curious if it ever happened. I never did hear anything about it, beyond what was posted here.

For my money, after re-watching the classic a couple of weeks ago, it's a movie that doesn't need to, nor should be, remade.
