I didn't care for Cloverfield. The monster was great, but I really did not like the choice to show everything through a handheld camera screen. Maybe for a little bit would have been fine (like the NYC subway scene for example), but I found it bothersome and lessened my enjoyment of the film. When you see fireworks live, they are spectacular. When you see them though a video camera monitor, it's a pale imitation of the live event and not nearly as exciting. The same for me with this movie. The scenes of destruction and the story would have been much more enjoyable as "live" film rather than the jumpy, unappetizing handheld camera footage. Yes it's different, but that doesn't mean it's better. The acting was good and I liked the fact that as in real life, you never know until a crisis who the true heroes will be.

One thing to watch out for: The last scene is a flashback set on the Coney Island Wonder Wheel. Look closely towards the ocean in the background. It's something you could easily miss if you blink.

Also, this does not appear to be a self-contained story. I suspect at least one sequel to explain some of the goings on.

i liked the movie a little more than black tiger, however, i agree with him on the hand-held camera bit. it should have been used only partially in the movie--the acting was ok--the monster effects were good--no true explanation on the monster was given, watch the end [background of the wonderwheel scene] for a hint of where the monster may have come from--ralph g

I finished watching this about 20 minutes ago and I gotta say that I'm glad that I gave in and watched it. People around me were saying that it was so bad that they wished they never saw it. It wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. For £2, it was well worth getting. I have to give this one a six out of ten. :D

Overall the flick was a letdown for me, ML. Glad you enjoyed it, though.

Hey, Copperhead, wherefore art thou?

Always be yourself! Unless you can be Batman...then always be Batman!
