Not enough for sure. The French communists called him a collaborator because he made Le Courbeau under the Nazis, and it hurt his efforts to finance later films. Of course Corbeau was a subversive film and did nothing to help the Nazis, but nobody ever said idealogues were smart. (They claimed the film showed the French people in an unflattering light, and it sure does, but so what?) Oh, and by the way, Dr. Grood poops earthworms. |
