I finally got 'round to watching Shrek the Third last night. I thought the first Shrek was pretty good, the second was much less so. The third? Awful. There's no "there" there, and few gags in the film, and the gags that are there fall flat as day-old beer. A waste of time, and ended up with only one eye on it while doing something else (observing my 25-min. rule, which is, "Give every film 25 min. before you lose interest in it").

Fiona's father, a frog voiced by John Cleese, has croaked and unless Fiona's cousin Arthur can be found, Shrek is the new ruler. So it's off to find Arthur, while Prince Charming attacks the kingdom in his absence. This would've made an okay swashbuckler in 1953, maybe, but there's not much room to hang comedy bits on in the 21st century, there's no eye for small funny details, there are no new appealing characters (the last film added Puss-in-Boots, a very funny cat indeed, and he's back here but they forgot to write him anything to do). This is just a half-assed project.

All of Dreamworks' features are horrible. They look like Katzenberg took a digital projectile shit all over the screen.

I sure agree. I hated the first Shreck picture and turned the second one off after 10 minutes. Unlike Gravy, I have a 10-minute rule and can usually tell long before that.

I disagree with you about the first Shrek being bad...I found it very funny and I also enjoyed the second. I haven't seen the third one yet. I actually got my brother that for Christmas so I might borrow his copy soon to check it out for myself.
