It is time for the Encore Western Channel to restore the Roy Rogers films. I have all but one, the Man From Cheyenne, but a lot of them are the abridged versions. It is certainly past due that the King of the Cowboys get the same treatment as Gene and Hoppy. As I type I am watching On the Old Spanish Trail. The original ran 75 minutes. Encore is running the 55 minute truncated version. And the picture is very faded. Any Encore bigwigs here? Do justice to the King of the Cowboys.

I know the Gene Autry estate had some financial tie with the Westerns Channel which explains why his films were restored. Probably the same with Hoppy, given they showed all his films and even had a special on him. I'm sure the Westerns Channel runs on a pretty low budget.

Having said all that, Roy absolutely deserves equal treatment.

I absolutely agree with Black Tiger. It would also be nice if by chance the missing Trucolor Rogers films:

Apache Rose
On the Old Spanish Trail
Night Time in Nevada
Grand Canyon Trail
The Far Frontier

were found and released. One can only wish.
