I saw this advertised at The Belcourt last Fall and thought it looked good, but I didn't get to see it until now, thanks to Netflix. (Jeez, Netflix oughtta give me a commission for the times I've put their name on this board!!!)

The film is a documentary about the Pro-Life and Pro-Choice sides of the abortion issue. Footage of protests and interviews with many people on the 2 sides are shown. Good arguements are made and some radical religious nuts, as well as kooky Pro-Lifers get screen time. Paul Hill, notorious for killing a doctor at an abortion clinic, is filmed walking picket lines prior to the killings. There's also court footage for several of the gunmen and one interview with a certain gunman after he has been incarcerated.

Both sides seem to get equal screen time and the director seems to let the subjects tell their sides of the issue as he stays neutral. The film runs just over 2 and a half hours, and it's rather long, but I enjoyed it.

Stony's favorite scene: Norma J McCorvey, who was Jane Roe in 1973's Roe vs. Wade is interviewed. She tells of the hardships she faced with constant harrassment i.e., car and house windows being broken and a Pro-Life group deliberately moving in next door to her.
After some time she decides to go to the house next door to confront her tormentors and she becomes....well, a Pro-Lifer, going to rallys and doing the Lord's work. Weird eh????

4 out of 5 bong hits

Be warned....there are some brutal images shown in this film.
