Just saw "Assembly" (China 2007) a great film at the New York Asian Film Festival. A gritty tale of the inhumanity of war, the humanity of those who fight in it and the aftermath on the land and the soldiers years later. While this is not a new concept, the execution is flawless and the storytelling mesmerizing. This has been the runaway hit of the festival and deservedly so. Here's a link to a writeup and the theatrical trailer: http://www.subwaycinema.com/index.php?opti...id=54&Itemid=80 Highly recommended. |
