In the commentary track for chapter one, we are told that William Witney's first serial was SOS COAST GUARD, and that DICK TRACY and THE LONE RANGER cost $300,000 each, which was around twice the actual cost.

Pa, it will be interesting to see how the commentary notes match up with the information that knowledgeable serial fans like yourself have accumulated.

Please keep posting about it.

Shouldn't Tom Weaver know better? I was surprised to hear that researching the commentary was the first time he had read the chapter on serials in Republic Confidential.

I'm talking completely off the cuff here, but isn't Tom Weaver more of a classic horror/sci-fi expert? I love the guy's work, I just don't recall him being a part of any serial related releases before. But I'm good with it, I enjoy his commentaries and his books.

Zachary Levi (who starred in NBC's action-comedy Chuck) has landed the lead role in the upcoming Shazam! film:

I have the Blu-ray DVD of Captain Marvel, and I did notice that the first few seconds of the credits for every chapter was of lower quality than the rest of the movie, however in a Facebook group several people thought the print quality wasn't as good as with DAREDEVILS OF THE RED CIRCLE. Did anyone here agree with them?

I only watched a few minutes of Kino's Captain Marvel Blu Ray, but I thought it looked pretty sweet myself. I've picked up all four that Olive released (including Commando Cody) and the two from Kino. I'm hoping one or both of the companies continues on. Hey, if nothing else Olive should release Radar Men from the Moon and Zombies of the Stratosphere. Sure they're not that good, but to have them as upgrades from what's out would be nice. I'm actually surprised Zombies hasn't been released since it has Leonard Nimoy in it. I'm also rather surprised VCI hasn't released any on Blu Ray.
