From Classic Flix.com; Becoming Charley Chase which had been set for release this coming Tuesday has been indefinitely postponed. Speaking directly with David Kalat of All Day Entertainment, he cited lackluster sales in All Day's recent silent releases as the reason for not moving forward at this time. Last nite I attended the Hollywood Heritage Museum's monthly presentation. During the program, they passed out a flyer regarding Charley's Columbia shorts. Seems they have all been restored, BUT Sony is somewhat dubious about issuing them as they feel there wouldn't be a large enough market to warrant it. I've heard mixed reports about Charley's work at Columbia and, personally, I thought his silent work was much funnier than the sound shorts produced at Roach. On the other hand, I always feel that efforts like this are definitely worth supporting.
