Who and what is Pinto Pete? A friend of mine in Colorado was raving about the character and trying to sell me a couple stories and a comic with Pinto Pete. i love Westerns but would like to know more about the character, and whether it was in pulps, paperbacks, comics, TV, etc. Worth pursuing? |

I suspect there was more than one, but the only "Pinto Pete" of whom I am aware is the character played by future producer Ashton Dearholt in a series of cheap Westerns released by Arrow during 1924. I believe several of them still survive, although the only one I've seen is LASH OF THE WHIP. Pinto Pete is adept with a bullwhip, which explains the title. |

Special thanks to a kind soul who sent me a bunch of CDs with radio broadcasts of Pinto Pete. Enjoying them very much, as primitive as the radio western is. |
