Dae su Oh has been picked up by the police and he's drunk and verbally abusing his captors. His friend comes and picks him up from the police and they call Oh's home from a pay phone because it's his daughter's birthday and of course, he's late. As the friend is on the phone, Oh disappears from the street and awakens in a sealed room with only a TV. He is held in the room for 15 years and finds out from the TV, that he has been set up for the murder of his wife. After the 15 years he finds himself in a trunk on the roof of a building and he begins his journey to find out who was responsible for his captivity and why. He meets a young woman working in an eatery and he stays with her at her apartment and she tries to help him along in his hunt.

Oh's former captor is always tormenting Oh though the phone and once in person, but Oh is unable to catch the man.A good story and it's a little different than a lot of movies I've seen with a few nice twists.

Stony's favorite scene: There's a fight scene in a long hallway between Oh and more than a dozen men, that's shown as if one of the hall's walls is missing and some of it is done in long takes. Well choreographed.

4 outta 5 bong hits.
It's like Rodney King used to say, "Can't we all get a bong."

Haven't seen this yet, but I've seen other films by this director and like his work.

One story about this movie. My current squeeze's last beau took her to see Oldboy. She abhors violent films and horror. He promptly fell asleep during the opening credits, slept through the film and woke up in time for the closing credits. Then as she complained, the guy asked her to recap the film for him. D'OH!
