I recorded nine of the ten TORCHY BLAINE movies. Somehow I missed one. Can anyone point me to a source that has great quality for that film so I can complete my collection? I recorded the nine direct to DVD from satellite with the progressive scan in between and at a high GB rate so the quality is picture perfect. I'm willing to sacrifice quality for the remaining film, but would like a great print. I checked and some web-sites say nine, other say ten movies. Which is it?

I have:
Smart Blonde
Fly Away Baby
The Adventurous Blonde
Blondes at Work
Torchy Gets Her Man
Torchy Blaine in Chinatown
Torchy Runs for Mayor
Torchy Blaine in Panama
Torchy Blaine Playing with Dynamite

Every time I tried to order from Trevor Down Under, he would send my payment back and tell me he doesn't sell to Americans because they cheat him. Trevor also bought a series of DVDs when I once posted publicly I was transferring them from 16 mm to DVD. He bought them and almost immediately began offering them not on the 13 DVDs I made, but 4, compressing them and thus damaging the quality. I strive for perfect picture quality. But when someone takes 13 discs worth of SP and XP speed quality and compresses them onto a slow speed and thus pixelating, I decided I would not give him any future business. And since he won't sell to me because I am American, I simply ignore his rarely-occassional e-mails requesting a list of titles I am transferring to DVD. I do the transfers for my own collection. I don't make it a habit of selling anything so having been burned once . . .

Thanks for the info, Shelby. Kind of contradicts some of the other posts around here, while definitely corroborating others.

Interesting...

I have 9 Torchy Blaines- I got mine from Trevor. The quality was very good and the service was great. Yes, I am in the US-

I really don't want to get in the middle of any dispute- but my delaings with Trevor and most of the other movies dealers has been good.

The poorer quality usually comes from the Alpha Video products that have been transferred more times than I can count.

Shelby - are you transfering film to DVD only for your own collecgtion or are you open to selling?

I am strictly a collector and my goal is to get just enough films to annoy my wife, but not so many that she throws me and them out.

I doubt Alpha would offer Torchy Blaine movies. Alpha deals with publi domain material -- not copyrighted movies. The selection of what they can offer on DVD is limited because of that.

I read some postings about Trevor in Australia and yeah, they were split down the middle. Half were complaints and the other half compliments. I only transfer films to DVD for my own personal collection. I have (against the wishes of others) a picky attitude toward sound and picture quality but I pride myself on what I own. I saw a copy of RED RIDER (serial) that Trevor offered. A friend bought it and forwarded me a copy. It was the best copy of that ever. But having purchased a 13-disc set of ROCKY JONES I had transferred from 16 mm prints and other sources to ensure the best quality and then watching as he bought the set and compressed them on less discs only tells me he isn't picky about quality.

I don't own a business, but I do trade movies from time to time as long as I know what I am getting in the trade is excellent. Else the one-time trade is simply one-time. He pleaded for me to sell him the box set I made and I relented -- and this was before I attempted to place my first order with him.

My statement about Trevor above was the first time I expressed my disappointment. What I did afterwards was the same with many vendors -- I simply went silent and bought elsewhere.

I don't mean to give the impression that I am "Trevor bashing." I am not. If anyone has had good relations with him then by all means, continue buying from him. But I have had nothing but compliments from friends who visit the house and we watch movies on out 12 foot by 7 foot movie screen and at that size, having nothing but compliments reveals how much I pride myself on superb picture quality. I have a friend in New York City who trades and trades and doens't care about quality. He uses a five inch TV screen so everything is going to look superb to him. Having received a number of discs from him in the past, I would pay good money to sit in his living room and watch his face the day he gets a 22 inch TV and plays the same discs...

I have not checked out Trevor's site since. Is he still claiming on his home page that he buys prints of movies from the estates of movie actors?
