I tried to watch this 3 weeks ago. Spaghetti SEVEN SAMURAI it ain't.
Despite the super cool film title I clocked out after 20 minutes.
Beautiful cinematography with garish hues and heaps of egg-drop yellows and blood splattering reds. Repeat after Dylan: ...The Skies Not Yellow It's Chicken...
The Japanese speaking Nippon-English are much easier to understand than Quentin Tarrantino's stylized impression of the speech patterns of same.
I hope anyone who enjoyed this film would post their review.
I'd love to find a reason to believe that this movie isn't a total waste of time. I had high hopes for it.
In all sincerity, good luck to any brave souls who can make it through the entire movie.

Was that Tombstone Blues or Highway 61 Revisited? Probably neither!

This movie is playing Nashville at the end of the month and I was hoping somebody saw it. (I was bettin' on Black Tiger) I saw Audition and liked it, although I about threw up the second time I saw it because I was eating nachos and thought I could make it through the bowl of soup scene (I did, barely). I also heard Ichi The Killer is good but I haven't seen that, so I was hoping to go to the flicks and see something entertaining and different. But then, 20 minutes does not make a movie. I didn't like the first 15 minutes of Quai des Orfevres and shut it off. I wenrt back to it the next day and now it's one of my faves.

Right you are - "Tombstone Blues" and the correct line I misquoted is "the SUN'S nots yellow, it's chicken".
SUN not SKY. Nor "Skies".
My fugs up.

Didn't care for Sukiyaki Western Django either. A major disappointment from talented director Miike. The decision to cast Quentin Tarantino as an actor was a major mistake. Note: to Hollywood - Tarantino is a good director, but NOT an actor. Please DO NOT cast him as an actor again. He's terrible! Found this film mostly unwatchable - and I enjoy both westerns and Japanese films!

I haven't seen this one. There's a nice Japanese comedy, Tampopo, which is set in a noodle restaurant. It has a little of the mysterious stranger you'd find in Shane or The Magnificent Seven. Or The Karate Kid.

I saw the trailer when we were in Nashville, and it was in all honesty, one of the worst trailers that I've ever seen (perhaps only second to the Christmas on Mars trailer that I saw right after it).

Does this mean you went to the Belcourt during your visit?
