Charter Member Posts: 3,743 Group: Members Member #12 Joined: September 3, 2005	Some of you may have noticed I haven't been by in around a week or so. About a week ago, I started having vision problems in my right eye. I found out I had suffered a hemorrhage in the vitriol of my right eye. It started by my seeing weird black streaks in my vision through that eye...I guess that was the blood leaking into my eye. Before too long, my vision turned cloudy to where I coiuldn't make anything out. It was kind of like trying to make something out while looking through a thick piece of wax paper. My brother took me to the emergency room of a local medical center and I've seen a few doctors since then. This was all caused by my diabetes. The doctor wants to wait a week or two and see if the blood drains out of my eye before he begins any other treatment on it. In the meantime, he found my left eye is showing signs of the same problems so he gave me a laser treatment on that and I'm scheduled two more such treatments...on Wednesdays, the one day he is in at the medical center in my town. As I've said, it's been a week and the vision in my right eye has not improved. But this explains where I've been.

I think that's the sense I rely on the most, not only for living day to day, but for entertainment too. I hope you get back to normal in time to enjoy a marvelous Christmas and can soon rejoin us in the Arcade.

Mom has been diabetic for years and has had similar vision problems. I was diagnosed as diabetic last year but other than watching my diet and taking minimal medication I haven't noticed any real changes.

Several months ago, my blood sugar got so low I fell down about 4 times in a row...I kind of got dizzy and kept losing my balance. I can see enough through one eye to get around but watching TV isn't real enjoyable right now.

I was given some drugs following my recent surgeries that caused by glucose levels to show up on labs as being "elevated". This persisted for some months and they were setting me up for treatment when another doctor on the team recognized that the glucose levels were the result of an overprescription of a medication one of the other doctors had prescribed. The med was reduced and the symptoms disappeared. It was a pretty terrifying prospect for me as I'm still recovering from other health maladies so I really sympathize and wish you the best.
