Revered in the UK Posts: 11,072 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: August 31, 2005	Tom Cruise, Terence Stamp, and Kenneth Branagh hatch a conspiracy to assassinate Hitler in 1944. Good movie, and real old-time Hollywood filmmaking. Cruise is the larger than life star (lots of impressive closeups), the historical set pieces reek of accuracy, and the film -- despite the fact that the ending is preordained -- is suspenseful, fast-moving, intelligent, and exciting. I thought it went a little overboard in attempting to paint the conspirators as heroes (you could tell a no less accurate story picturing them as failed world conquerors attempting to save their own skin) but that's my only quibble. Well, that and the fact that most of the plotters have thick British accents - I kept waiting for somebody to say " 'eil 'itler!" The sequence in which Colonel von Stauffenberg walks into a room at which sit Hitler, Goebbels, and some of history's most despised humans actually had me shivering. A very good movie.

Balcony Gang, Foist Class Posts: 3,895 Group: Members Member #531 Joined: July 29, 2008	I totally agree with you Laughing Gravy. I was gripped by the eeireness of all those top Nazis together in one room too. I gotta give it a 9 out of 10 easily.
