The BEST Tarzan was Gordon Scott! The BEST Tarzan hairstyle was Gordon Scott's! ![]() The BEST Tarzan picture was Tarzan's Greatest Adventure with Gordon Scott! What say you, my little mangel-worzels? ![]() Yes, you're right, that IS Denny Miller as Tarzan the Ape Man (1959) on my avatar!

I believe it may be a matter of who the first Tarzan you saw on the screen. I'm a Scott fan as well but there are many who would select Weissmuller and Bruce Bennett did an admirable job. (I think all would agree that Miller was the worst Tarzan) As for Scott's movies - I preferred Tarzan the Magnificent. |

You could argue about "Best" until the cows come home. But my favorite is Johnny Weissmuller (and yes, he was the first I saw). |

Yes, the first one tends to stick. Tarzan the Magnificent could also be the best - certainly Jock Mahoney's best performance, IMHO - I wish he hadn't gone to India - in fact Jock, Ron Ely and Mike Henry didn't go to Africa, worst luck! I was about 10 when I saw Denny Miller and I thought he was very good - I revised my opinion later! But was Denny worse than the short guy from Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar? Bruce Bennett was good, but the serial was a little disappointing. |

First saw Johnny Weissmuller in Tarzan and the Mermaids which was a supporting feature in the 60s. Some of the Weissmuller ones they showed on TV were excellent like Tarzan's New York Adventure. BEST version of Shout is by Lulu and the Luvvers - everybody agree?

Not a chance -- best is Otis Redding, hands down. We rarely hear English covers this side of the pond. If Lulu hadn't made an album in Memphis, we'd think of her as a one-hit wonder. Provincial, ain't we? Lex Barker was the first Tarzan I saw and he isn't my favorite anything, except possibly pedophile. Edited by panzer the great & terrible, Feb 7 2009, 08:56 AM.

I still like the Isley's Shout, but I don't recall Otis's, so maybe I never heard it. Lex Barker was also my first (and only) Tarzan. I remember thinking, as a kid, that it was a travesty when he was replaced in the Tarzan role and subsequently, never saw another one. I didn't know he was a pedophile until I read it here, but I never gave Tarzan, or who played him, a great deal of thought over the intervening years. |

But did Otis and the Isleys sing... 'Well el el el el-el-el?'? BEST dressed Batman was Adam West and Gordon Scott had a better hairstyle than Lex Barker!

Provincial? - never! Why, next you'll be saying you're parochial! Best Catwoman was Julie Newmar - what say you my little parishioners? |

I'd have to agree even though she doesn't resemble the Selena Kyle of the comics. Then again, the TV character isn't Selena Kyle and has no backstory. A pity the show biz types always get everything wrong. |

The best Hannibal is this fella, IMHO - I recently saw a Scottish one on TV, but he was nowhere near as masterful! The best TV cop is Steve McGarrett - second-best is Dexter!
