I've always wondered where Tortuga is - I looked it up on an atlas once and there's an island called Tortuga near Venezuela.

In The Fortunes of Captain Blood there is a very detailed description of Tortuga, but it has a different name on my Collins Atlas!

Sadly, I must keep the location secret to protect the 'brethren of the coast'!B)

So much for the brethren.
But they're a bully lot who sing merrily...

There's a last-gasp swashbuckler titled "Pirates of Tortuga" on DVD -- has sort of a early 60's Universal buzz; competent on most scores but strangely bland.

I'm still waiting for "King's Pirate," a cheerfully cheesy remake of "Against All Flags" with Doug McClure, Jill St. John in tight pants, and Richard Deacon. Yes, Richard Deacon -- playing Mel Cooley, a pirate bureaucrat.

Saw that many, many years ago on TV - starring Ken Scott - the only other thing I remember seeing him in was an episode of Alias Smith and Jones.
