No, no, I didn't see this widely panned (widely "loathed" would be more like it) so-called comedy about a pair of high school football players who join the cheerleader squad because... well, because they're horny and the cheerleader squad is full of girls, see. I'm writing about it because one reviewer wrote, "If you want a REAL laugh out of this picture, go to the IMDB and look at the age of the actors playing the teenagers in this movie."

As ya'll know, I always want a real laugh. So I went to the IMDB, picked the top five "kids" in the cast, and looked up their ages.

They are 29, 31, 24, 35, and 30. Yes, really. An average age of 29.8 years old - playing high school kids.

Granted, I'm at that age where I'm more comfortable enjoying a 30 year old cheerleader than a 16 year old cheerleader. Don't mean I'm a-gonna watch the movie, though.

In other news (I have no idea where to put this) I awoke with a great idea this morning: a new animated show for kids: Slumdog Squarepants. What'd ya think, sirs?

And hey, just on a hunch, I went and looked up the ages of the "teenagers" in the classic movie DEAD END, made in 1937 - they became known as the famous "Dead End Kids". They were 17, 18, 14, 20, 18, and 14. Not bad - pretty much actual teenagers played teenagers in those days. *L*

But teenagers were hungry back then. The Dead End Kids had parents to support. What if you had to rely on a teen to support you today?

Loved Dead End. And the Dead End Kids/Little Tough Guys/East Side Kids/Bowery Boys in general.

Columbia serials had a nasty habit of casting 30ish "teens".
