Steve Canyon: I wrote my comments above after viewing the first two episodes. I liked it then and I like it even more now that I have a viewed a few more episodes.

The second episode entitled "Zero Liftoff" (I think) about the Air Forces's attempt at developing a fixed wing aircraft that could take off from a truck or trailer. They were experimenting with a device called "RATO" as I remember. That stode for Rocket Assisted Take Off. I remember when those tests were going on back in the day. In making the show they intermix (what we call stock footage) with the actors. It showed a couple of failed attempts at launching a dummy aircraft and a failed attempt with an actual manned F-100. Then Lt.Col. Canyon launched it successfully.

I read up on the cancellation of the program and found out that the program was too realistic. The Air Force apparently had a motto "Perfect Men Perfect Machines" and the makers of the show wanted some action and thrills to help the ratings. The Air Force and the aircraft industry didn't like the failures being shown. So after a certain number of episodes Steve Canyon was placed behind a desk at Big Thunder Air Force Base. The show lost lot of the action and after a short run was cancelled.

In short if you like 1950s programmng (I do), like a lot of military hardware, and a really All-American hero you should get this series. It is very good.
