Someday, Michael Scott on The Office will discover Adult Swim and will expand his workplace impressions to include Brock Sampson, Space Ghost, Brak and the Humping Robot.

I'm going to drink another five Diet Cokes and write a 2,000-word fan fiction on that idea. Then I'll get around to refuting Thad.
I'll pay for your Diet Cokes. That post was awesome.

No comments on Family Guy. I've wasted enough energy discussing why it's bad, and I refuse to anymore. You can only point out the shitty writing, voice acting, drawing, everything so many times. In short, the show is below human standards.

Ya know, humor is kinda like an erection… at least insofar as neither requires a lot of sophistication or intelligence on the part of the provocation. They just happen. You may have an IQ of 240 & be the soul of sophistication & still crack up at the laconic wheezes of Percy Kilbride… if he happens to tickle your risibilities.

The silliest instruction in the world is to tell someone they shouldn’t laugh at something. Watta waste of time. The person isn’t deliberately laughing at whatever it is. They just CAN’T HELP IT!!

For instance, a lot of my friends think SOUTH PARK is high hilarity. I’ve watched it several times… & never cracked a smile. What cracks them up? I haven’t the slightest idea. Why am I not amused?? I’m similarly bemused. Just the way it is, I guess.

Peter singing “Surfing Bird” to Brian & Stewie simply fills me with joy & merriment… & I really don’t give a damn how badly it is written, animated… or whatever!! An honest laugh is worth its weight in precious gems!!!

Hoo boy, FAMILY GUY certainly seems to be controversial. Currently in another argument concerning the show over at Facebook.

However, someone came up with a clip which clearlly illustrates the kind of humor they use which always makes me laugh:

And, of course, being an a cappella fan, I would HAVE to post the following:

Aside from dipping into the occasional Robot Chicken, I drifted away from Adult Swim after the series finale of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. Probably the last time we'll see hip comedy that assumes everybody recognizes such Saturday Morning relics as Devlin, Mighty Mightor, the Galaxy Trio, Inch-High Private Eye, etc.

Episodes are best watched in order, not so much for continuity but for the show evolving from straightforward joke ideas (Scooby and Shaggy arrested for possession, which seemed to explain a lot) to inspired strangeness.

I figured I was too young, because I haven't heard of any of these.

That was the late Seventies. You were too old.
Life is just a bowl of cherries, it's too mysterious, don't take it serious...

Actually, they went as far back as Yogi Bear (whose little buddy turned out to be the infamous UniBooBoo), the Jetsons (something about the fact the show was originally set in the early 21st century), the Flintstones (Fred as a Tony Soprano-type mobster), Jonny Quest (Dr. Quest and "Race" Bannon in an ugly breakup), Hokey Wolf's pal Ding-a-Ling (fighting to reclaim his name from a pornographic website), Secret Squirrel's pal Morocco Mole (swept up in the war on terror) and various Super Friends (That Wonder Twin who could turn into water? He spends quality time in Wonder Woman's bathtub.). There was even a case with Droopy (he sued the plastic surgeon who gave him a huge, career-ending grin).

The Herculoids, Shazzan, Jabberjaw, Magilla Gorilla and others cropped up, and an assortment of old supervillains would turn up as judges, attorneys, etc. Also, Peter Potamas was a member of the law firm and, when not being caught en flagrante with various human female employees, busied himself by constantly asking "Did you get that thing I sent you?"

Hokay, so this isn't from Adult Swim, but....
There isn't a thread on Donald Duck and....
I didn't feel it was proper to start off a thread on him with this one, s-o-o-

'tinny rate, this is quite clever, BUT.....

WARNING: If you're of the rightist persuasion, do NOT watch this. Or, at least take an extra dose of Lisinopril before you do!!!

Good lord, Seth MacFarlane is INCREDIBLY talented. Trained in animation, he's also a very talented musician (with perfect pitch, yet. the bastard). Well, read about him here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seth_MacFarlane

And here he is doing his voices for "Family Guy." Conspiculously, Brian is missing.... but that's supposed to be his natural voice anyway:
