A Gravy family tradition is to sit and make snarky comments and give "Thumbs Up" or "Thumbs Down" to films based on the trailers we see when we go to the movies. Well, yesterday we went to see Star Trek. A few brief thoughts (the only kind I get these days)... The "This Movie Can't POSSIBLY be as Rancid as it Looks" Award goes to the new Terminator picture, which almost didn't win the award because it appears that it is very likely that it IS as rancid as it looks. This trailer also won the "Worst of Show" award; it made you want to go out in the lobby until it was finished. The "Oh My God They Made a Sequel to a Movie That Sucked?!?" Award goes to Night at the Museum 2, but in fairness, the theatrical premiere of a new Ben Stiller picture is always cause for staying home and taking up Mah Jongg, Solitaire, masturbation, ANYTHING to avoid the theatre. The "Well, the first one was good, but this looks like more of same" Award goes to Transformers 2. Where the hell are the Gobots?!? The "Wow - This Trailer was Hilarious - I hope it didn't contain ALL the funny Stuff from the Movie!" Award goes to "Year One" with Jack Black and that loser kid from Juno, who has a name but who shall be known forever as "The Loser Kid from Juno" to us. And finally, the "Movie the Trailer Most Made Us Want to See" Award went to "Up", the new Pixar film. I'm not a big fan of most of those movies, but they're all worth seeing. |

In our house, we also refer to him as "the funny kid who was in love with his cousin on Arrested Development, the funniest damn TV show ever". Or we just call him Michael Cera. |

Jesus God Almighty... at the movies the other day (Harry Potter and The Title Nobody Can Remember, I think it was called) I saw a trailer for an upcoming Sherlock Holmes film in which Robert Downey plays a martial-arts expert Holmes. I pray the movie loses $400 million and the dumb-asses that made it all have to get jobs at the In & Out Burger. |
