It is sad. I can't think of a favorite song, 'cause I liked a bunch of them, from his songs with his brothers, to his solo work. |

His career was amazing, his life a total mess. I think Off the Wall is as good as any record ever, and Thriller isn't far behind. At the U Bar we had a sort of wake for him last night and played a lot of his catalogue on the (Internet) juke box. Wow, I had forgotten how great he was. Nobody said a word against him either. Death sure changes your perspective. |

Jackson was a favorite from the time of the Jackson Five onwards. Brilliant singer/dancer/choreographer. Seriously eccentric and tragic too. I'm sure the Michael Jackson biopic is being fast-tracked even as we speak now that there is an ending to the story. |

A lot of people are speculating that he was the Elvis of his generation, and when you look at his impact and over all career arc, I would have to agree, he was the Elvis of his generation. |

With all of the rumors about Jacko's dependence on barbituates flying around today, it would make him more like Elvis than anyone should be. I hope it's not true, but checking out at 50 seems that the rumors might turn into fact. I remember it took a long time before the truth about Elvis' drug habits were confirmed. It's just sad |

At 50, that chick was too young to fry. Sad end to a brilliant career, but the brightest lights do burn out. On reflection, Michael was more than a singer: he was a songwriter, a conceptual artist and choreographer, things Elvis just dabbled in. Michael wrote "Billie Jean," one of the great pop songs of its day. We, and I'm talking the whole world here, gobbled him up and spit him out, but that's how it goes. The moth and the flame. |

VH1 Classic is showing Jackson vidoes today. They remind me how he took that artform to different level, starting with Thriller. I saw the extended version of Bad this am. It's probably my least favorite video of his. It has Wesley Snipes in it and it's directed by Martin Scorsese. I just have trouble with the concept of Jackson as a tough youth. I remember an interview of Prince by Chris Rock, where Prince says he was asked to do the Snipes part. He says he turned it down because he wasn't going to be in a video where another man sang to him-" Your butt is mine." |

Agree with you Mr. P. on "Off the Wall", a fave of mine. The weirdness aura will pass and he'll be appreciated for his talent. We went to a club down here (I'm still in Torrance) Thursday night and there was a live musician with his gee-tar; naturally, I requested a Michael Jackson song. I ended up singing "I'll be There" with him, with the crowd singing along. It was really nice. Eldest son Weasel Gravy said to me, "Even with all the monster pictures you showed me, when I was a kid the scariest thing I ever saw was 'Thriller'. Scared the crap out of me." |

It was scary when li'l Michael turned into a beast. My grandson's middle school choir sang "Thriller" and did the dance too, sorta. It was a marvel. At the same concert he sang "Respect" and knocked everybody's socks off, especially mine. It's fun to be a kid in Montana, where the schools get actual money. Not as much fun here in Tap City where what matters is old people not paying property tax (read: their way), and kids get zip nada (they don't vote, have ya heard?). There is nothing stupider than letting sales tax pay for government. When times get tough, people stop spending and government revenues go down when they are most needed. Dumb, dumb, dumb. |

I saw Thriller this morning for the 1st time in maybe 20 years. It's still good. My favorite part? Vincent Price's rap. I love his line-"To terrorize y'all's neighborhood." |

Jacko's fans 'commit suicide' Up to 12 heartbroken followers of the star have taken their lives - including one Brit — said the MJJcommunity website. The startling claim came as it was revealed a Jackson lookalike in Russia cut his wrists after the star's death was announced. Gary Taylor, who runs MJJcommunity.com, said: "I know there has been an increase, I now believe the figure is 12. I believe there may have been one Briton who has taken their life. "It is a serious situation that these people are going through but Michael Jackson would never want this. He would want them to live." Russian fan Pável Talaláyev was found bleeding heavily at his home in Moscow just hours after it was announced that Jackson had died. But an ambulance crew found him in time on Friday and managed to save his life. One of the ambulance men said: "He was in a terrible state and kept on saying: 'It's all the same to me. I'm going to kill myself. It's the worst tragedy of my life and I don't want to live any more. I don't know why you saved my life, I want to be with him'." Pável — Russia's most famous Jacko lookalike — modelled himself on the star from the age of nine. |

WOW!!! Here's Michael dancing with The Nicholas Bros. Of course, in 1977 Fayard & Harold weren't at their prime... but they're still damn good!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eppLgX87v7Y |

The Nicholas Brothers may have been the best dancers ever. If I remember correctly, Fred Astaire thought so. |
