Holy SHIT. I dunno about ya'll but this is CREEPY. I have an ad for "classic TV on YouTube" on my computer, with a pic of Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched... She was married to William Asher, who directed to Beach Blanket Bingo.... Can the Internet REALLY figure things like that out? Man, I am telling you, this is a creepy-ass age we live in.

I told ya before, that the posts are monitored. I told ya that about the high-heeled shoes. I'm in the wrong line of work. I could be monitoring these posts and putting ads for Willie Wonka on gangster threads. Guess I wouldn't be in that line of work very long though.

No comment on your dog Bingo, because that was MY dog, my drug-addled friend. And "Bingo" on a blanket on the beach? I've actually done that recently, and mind your own business, but my GOSH Malibu and Ventura Beach were fun.

I looked up who drawed this book but I forget, so the hell with it. Jack Kirby it wasn't. And Happy July 4th, kids! Bingo!

So, a typical day at the beach... Bonehead is dancing with Animal, and they're listening to little transister radios with those groovy little plugs stuck in their ears. Meanwhile, a beautiful blonde watches from the water. "She is puzzled by them, because, as we shall discover, she is not really of their world." Sounds like Sarah Palin a little bit, right? Oh, yeah, another typical sight on the beach: Buster Keaton, wearing a full suit and his porkpie hat, fishing.

Frankie & Annette (who in the Beach Party movies, for those of you who are L-7s, are called respectively "Frankie" and "DeeDee") turn on their OWN transistor radio and find out what th' swingin' tune is... why, it's that latest hit number, "Beach Blanket Bingo!"

""Take a blanket made for two now
Add a boy and a girl
That's the game for me and you now
Yeah, let's give it a whirl
Beach Blanket Bingo
Beach Blanket Bingo
Beach Blanket Bingo
That's the name of the game!"

And hey, look, Buster finally caught somethin'!

Okay, so in the upper left there, that's Animal getting speared by Buster, and in the lower left, the pilot is John Ashley, Beach Party regular who married his co-star, Deborah Walley. He later went to the Philippines and made a bunch of cheap horror films like Mad Doctor of Blood Island and crap like that. The lady skydiver is Linda Evans, who later went on to be on Dynasty on TV. I'd rather watch the Mad Doctor of Blood Island.

That drawing of "Dee Dee" in the middle left panel, is nowhere near that same as the one on the cover. And the drawing in the right middle panel is NOT very flattering to DD, or shall we say "Dumpy Derriere".

Oh, wait, my bad. Turns out that this is just Linda Evans' stand-in, she dived into the water, was pulled aboard the boat, and disappeared and then Miss Evans was trotted out so that it looked as though she did her own stunt. Ooooh! She's evil or stupid or something. That blonde chick we glimpsed earlier, by the way, attempted to rescue the stuntdiver but was chased off by the boat. On shore, the kids are watching, but Frankie thinks it's pretty snotty, doing a big publicity stunt just to sell a record.

Meanwhile, Sugar Kane's publicity man is none other than Paul Lynde, who says (hear it in his voice), "Greatest publicity stunt I ever dreamed up! Now the whole world will be talking about Sugar Kane, the singer who dives from airplanes!"

So Sugar is lowered into the water (out of sight of the beach) with the idea that one of the surfer boys will "rescue" her. Uh-huh. Paul Lynde, ladies and gentlemen.

Is it a coincidence that Paul Lynde was also in Bewitched? I don't thin so Senor.

Naturally, Frankie hops his board, gets his toes on the nose (he's no gremmie, that boy) and paddles out and rescues Miss Kane.

Paul Lynde: "Boy, you're a hero! You just saved this girl from drowning! Here's the big columnist, Earl Wilson, and he's going to write all about it!"

Earl Wilson says nothing, but scribbles furiously on his note pad.

So Paul Lynde manages to mention like 11 times that Sugar's new album of "sky songs" is called "Come Fall With Me". Frankie finds her kinda cute (hey, it IS Linda Evans) but so does somebody else... Because on the shore, Eric Von Zipper is watching through a telescope.

Eric von Zipper: "I've just seen the goil of my dreams!"

Rat Pack Guy: "Good for you, boss."

So, along with that Pvt. Doberman funnybook we read several weeks ago, this makes twice we've done a Harvey Lembeck funnybook. He is my idol, see.

"Sure I get sad, but it's not too bad. It only hurts when I cry" LOL . I'd rather hear Bingo howl ... in pain!

Sometimes, I frighten myself, the stuff I know. (Other times, it's the stuff I DON'T know that scares me.)

In any case, that chick singin' about cryin' is Donna Loren, who pops up to sing from time to time in the Beach Party series, and who had a hit called "Muscle Bustle". Brian Wilson contributed songs to the Beach Party films from time to time, but I don't think he wrote any of these. Ummm, okay, so anyways, Annette thinks skydiving would be a "gas" and wants to try. Frankie says she can take lessons if she wants, but "a woman's place is in the kitchen" and he forbids her to jump. Meanwhile, "Steve" the pilot (John Ashley) is jealous because his girlfriend "Bonnie" the stuntdiver (Deborah Walley) thinks "Frankie" (Frankie) is cute.

Frankie and Dee-Dee go to see "Big Drop" (Don Rickles). A running gag in the film is that Don plays different characters, sort of: in the drag-racing Bikini Beach, he's "Big Drag" and in Pajama Party, he's a Martian bent on destroying earth: "Big Bang". Yes, really. Would I lie?

Oh, and that reminds me: Elizabeth Montgomery makes a surprise cameo appearance (as a witch!) in one of the Beach Party films, and her voice-over is heard in another, reading a newspaper.

Okay, so Buster Keaton is dancing with Bobbi Shaw, but nobody asks why. Deborah Walley flirts with Frankie something fierce, and nobody asks why for THAT, either. As the kids watch Steve and Bonnie do their jumping thing, Dee-Dee makes up her mind that she is going to do an airplane jump, regardless of what Frankie says. You GO girl.

Meanwhile, Bonehead goes surfing and wipes out and gets hit on the head by his surfboard, the big dolt. He's rescued by that mysterious blonde chick, who swims him to shore and then disappears. Deadhead, barely conscious, thinks he's being rescued by an angel. Who happens to be on the beach? Why, Paul Lynde and Linda Evans, that's who happens to be on the beach.

Paul Lynde: "This will make a great story! Singer saves surfer! What a switch!"

Yeah, ya better get Earl Wilson's ass back down here.

Sugar thinks this is going too far, but Paul says, "Forget it, kid! The publicity will be great!" and tells the newly-arrived Beach Party gang that Sugar is a hero who saved their pal. The blonde chick watches from behind a rock, disappointed. Hmmmm.
