Is there a serial you just couldn't finish?

I recently got The Black Coin and honestly gave up after the fifth chapter. (I also got cheap and got the Alpha Video version, so the muddy image didn't help.) It was confusing and really boring. The only other serial I ever did that with was The Shadow of the Eagle. Again it got slow and despite John Wayne, uninteresting. Is there any serials you couldn't get through?

I actually liked Shadow of the Eagle, although it is the weakest of Wayne's three Mascot serials.. I have never seen The Black Coin.
The only serial I gave up on was the Lost City of the Jungle. Jungle Girl and Chandu were pretty bad, but I got through them.

I have the Houdini serial, as well. Unfortunately the second half is not nearly as good as the first part.

I have never met a serial I couldn't slog my way through eventually.

Ah, but that's because you never tried to slog your way through The Clutching Hand or Young Eagles. I gave up on Hand after about the third chapter. With Eagles I lasted a little longer because the first chapter was OK; well, it was fair anyway.

I, as Todd, have yet to meet the serial I can't get through. That includes the aforementioned Clutching Hand, Black Coin and yes, even Young Eagles! I'm told I seem to have a high pain tolerance.

You must. I used to say I would watch anything that moves, but then I saw The Clutching Hand -- first three chapters anyway.

I have sat through The Clutching Hand, I think I've watched it maybe three times over the past fifteen years. I haven't seen Young Eagles yet, it is on my Netflix cue, but amazingly enough it is currently out being watched by someone else. Go figure!

I and 39013 have the dubious record of watching The Clutching Hand in one sitting....I liked the serial because of all the fights involving what looked like everyone in LA and the hero was good and his helper was good...39013 has recovered after many hours of therapy..I just used Brickford Mansion Magic Elixir and Paint Remover.... I have sat through THE BLACK COIN, CUSTER'S LAST STAND, YOUNG EAGLES, and QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE. 40+ years ago when I was a gung ho serial fan, a local televison show played THE CLUTCHING HAND, and I watched the first 12 chapters, before getting a job, and missed the rest. A few years ago a friend loaned it to me so I could finish it, but I didn't have it in me to see any more of it, and I returned the tape without watching any of it.

Like Pa Stark I have watched The Black Coin, Custer's Last Stand, Queen of the Jungle and The Clutching Hand but God help me I could not get beyond Chapter 4 of the Young Eagles. Maybe one day but not in the foreseeable future.

YOUNG EAGLES is just terrible, but what got me through it was here were two boy scouts lost somewhere in a jungle, really in deep trouble, and I wanted to see how they managed to survive and be rescued. That is the only positive thing I can say about it.
THE LOST CITY used to be thought of as about the worst serial ever, but it's star has risen somewhat over the last 30 years. One thing in it's favor is it certainly isn't boring. A couple of years ago at SerialFest we screened a chapter in our hotel room, and Fury Shark sat there in shock, mumbling, "Did I just see what I thought I saw?"

Hey, that's a good thing. I'm all for anything that astonishes me, for any reason. What I hate is boring stuff like The Clutching Hand, where people are always peeping around corners for no reason at all.

So far I have gotten through everything I have started, including "The Clutching Hand" (though I remember absolutely nothing about it). I can almost always get through just about anything (especially if I have had an adult beverage or two before or during watching). The only movie I found unwatchable in recent years was "Tobacco Road".

I have started JUNGLE MENACE (Thank you, Rodney) and have only managed to watch two chapters. Problem is it breaks every serial rule there is. No cliffhangers, a plot about rubber plantation in the jungle. Groan.

For me, if I've spent money buying a serial, whether I like it or not I have to watch the whole thing otherwise I feel like I wasted the money.
