Okay, first, a recap: Laughing Gravy, who occasionally (and annoyingly) speaks of himself in the third person, doesn't care for most modern animated films. An exception is Ice Age (the first one), which he laughed himself sick all the way through; it's a comic masterpiece, like a 90 minute Warner Bros. slapstick cartoon, only it would be the funniest and longest one ever. Great stuff. The second one was okay; you know how that goes. So that brings us to #3 in the franchise, which I wanted to see in 3D. It's very funny, a little draggy in some spots, but better than #2 and with a lot (a lot) of laughs. Good natured but hapless (and smelly) Sid the Sloth finds three eggs in the ice and decides to build an instant herd. What he gets are three baby dinosaurs, and eventually mom comes to fetch them and Sid is carried off to a lost world under the ice, populated by not only dinosaurs (which come in two varieties, big & stupid and little & very, very mean) but a screamingly funny and completely insane Captain Ahab weasel named Buck, who is in search of the Great White Dinosaur, whom he has named "Rudy". So anyway, Manny the Mammoth and his she-mammoth Ellie, Ellie's brothers (who are possums, not mammoths, as you'll know if you've seen the previous one) and Diego the saber-tooth tiger are all off to rescue Sid from the T-Rex. And naturally, Scrat is back with a new acorn and a new love interest too, set to the stirring tunes of Barry White. The movie is funny, as usual Manny gets all the good lines (at one point he says goodbye to Buck with a cheery, "Good luck with your slow descent into madness!") and the 3D effects are very well done. I enjoyed this a lot and may see it again while it's still in theatres. |

Thanks! I never would have gone to see it. Not too big on sequels as a rule. |
