Having just been to Monster Bash and listening to Ricou Browning tell his tales of playing the water scenes in the first two of the series I decide to revisit the 3 films. Lots of fun, and I rate the films and the lead women (how hot) in this order. Creature Walks Among Us Revenge I may have asked this before but did anyone see the theatrical 3D release? Also see on IMDB that there’s a new one for 2011. I like one of the posters comments on the site: Please don't suck... Please don't suck... Please don't suck... Sam |

They've been talking about a Creature remake for decades; in fact, at one point, Jaws 3-D was supposed to be a Creature remake in 3-D. I saw Creature in 3-D when it was re-released in the 1970s (with It Came from Outer Space). Fun. I got a headache from a 3-D double feature, though. When I was a kid, the scene in Walks Among Us where the Creature (clad in jammies) smashes through a glass door to get at the villain, who's pushing around a woman, was just about the most terrifying thing I'd ever seen. |

I remember seeing Creature in 3D when it first came out and absolutely loved it and 3-D. Saw it in the Seavue Theater in Pacifica Calif. The theater has been demolished and I don't know what, if anything, has replaced it. SEAVUE THEATER in 2001

There was an article in issue 37 of FILMFAX (about ten years ago) that gave all the details and behind-the-scenes info on John Carpenter's remake of CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. I never saw the film in 3-D when it was first released in theaters back in the fifties, but I did see it in 3-D at the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention two years ago. The year they had Erin Gray from Buck Rogers. The room was packed and standing room only in the back. I "suspect" (it's me talking here) that they made the film flat and the studio later decided to release in 3-D before releasing it. Hence why the only cool 3-D effect is the creation of the Earth in the very beginning of the film (and a scene that could have been filmed separately and later after the initial production was completed). A friend of mine has two 35mm reels for HOUSE OF WAX and the glasses and I am talking to him about bringing them in with his projectors and allowing people to see the best 3-D film in three dimensions. Dig that paddle ball sequence! He's done it for local theaters but I figure the crowd that will really appreciate it is a film convention. I gave him the contact names of the people responsible for two conventions on the East Coast that would definately have an interest. Cross your fingers! |

The 3D effect from the Creature I will always remember is when he sticks his hand through the porthole. Great stuff! |
